DESCRIPTION The old Korriban heavy machinegun was found to have several flaws that became apparent when it was used against the First Order as a CIWS: its somewhat slow firing rate of 80 rounds per minute was the main issue, and it was also found that design flaws in the bipod used at the time were making recoil unacceptable for infantry use. The Korriban-II, as with its predecessor, uses rail gun technology to provide high stopping power to the bullets being fired (as much as it's feasible when 12.7x108 slug rounds are used), as well as increased the firing rate as compared with the predecessor. The Korriban-II has several big drawbacks, however: for all its rapid-fire and range, it is big and heavy, forcing many species to use it in a crew-served capacity, it has limited ammunition and, given the immense recoil of rapid-firing 12.7x108 slug rounds, even with the use of micro-repulsors, the infantry version must also be stabilized before firing, which leads to a 20-second lead time before the weapon is ready to fire. Finally, it is less and less accurate at longer ranges, despite the use of a free-floating barrel, causing volleys to spread in a cone, especially with more rounds.

It was found that the use of a free-floating barrel made the loading mechanism more cumbersome to use, resulting in a slow reload rate. Finally, as with all previous heavy machineguns sold by Ringovinda Systems, it features a burst firing option, whereby one fires 3, 6 or 9 rounds, and also requiring 1, 2 or 3 seconds of cooldown time respectively prior to firing another burst.

Notes:
  • In starfighter use, a Korriban-II is worth 1 laser cannon
  • In point-defense use, a Korriban-II is worth 1 quad-laser

You have a weakness of being ineffective at longer ranges, yet list the rating of effective range at "Long Range." These do not match up. Either change the rating, or remove the weakness.

Secondly, 300 rounds, for a physical round firing weapon, is actually quite a lot compared to other Rail gun weaponry. Stating the weakness of Limited ammo is needless.

Vora Kaar Vora Kaar Although I did remove the lack of effectiveness at long ranges as a weakness, 300 rounds may sound like a large amount of ammo, but at very high firing rates, even in bursts (as usually is the case in suppressive fire or in point-defense use, and I used the predecessor in both capacities) it doesn't last that long. Maybe slow reload would be a better weakness then...
