Saahar Saahar

Let it never be said that a Sith couldn't indulge in hobbies.

When not scouring for ancient texts and arcane secrets, Gorgon sought to expand his personal menagerie. Unique, exotic creatures fascinated him for collection and for study. To the latter end, avocation and ambition regularly overlapped, but as far as Gorgon was concerned, that was just efficient multitasking. As the saying goes, do what you love, and you'll never work a day in your life.

This day, the apple of Gorgon's eye was a rare reptilian beast known as the Hississ. Its dark side nature and venomous secretions would suit his collection beautifully. But to find one, options were limited; They were naturally elusive, and their homeworld was currently under Alliance occupation. The safest hunting locale would be none other than Korriban, the Sith holy world. Between its unsuitable habitat and the many other treacherous beasts that roamed these wastes, it was sure to be more exciting than Gorgon would have liked.

Which is why he employed the muscle of a Sith acolyte. This Saahar was unfamiliar to him, but one look at her was all he needed to trust her effectiveness as an impromptu henchman. Worst case scenario, she was a resource that could be expended for the sake of Gorgon's self preservation. He loved that about acolytes. "There. A valley is just ahead. If we're lucky, we'll find a natural reservoir amidst this wasteland." The Nautolan announced as they departed from their shuttle. The Hississ sought wet climates. In all likelihood, they would congregate around what few bodies of water Korriban had to offer.

Saahar had never been lizard wrangling and suffice to say she was only marginally excited to try (and potentially lose) her hand at it. Still, it was the first real mission she’d been on that didn’t involve a grocery list of war crimes and however small a victory that seemed, Saahar relished in it. The Sith had a lot of dirty laundry and rifling through it was not fun.

"There. A valley is just ahead. If we're lucky, we'll find a natural reservoir amidst this wasteland."

“Wasteland? That’s a bit harsh, no?” Saahar responded light-heartedly, slipping out from the shuttle all the same. Literally nothing was about to sour her mood, not even being seeped in the darkest pit of a Sith graveyard, “I think this place looks relatively nice given all the y’know death and decay.” Shaking the sand from one of her boots the girl followed the nautolan’s directive and made way for the valley like it was some field trip, “The Hississ must think so.”

“What do you want with one anyway?”
She asked, tossing a look over her shoulder, “If you’re in the market for a pet maybe don’t go with the murder lizard? Just a suggestion.” Technically was a joke, though she didn’t know if the nautolan would fully read it as such.

“Wasteland? That’s a bit harsh, no?”

Gorgon just looked back at Saahar unamusedly, letting the desert before them speak for itself. Especially being an amphibious Nautolan, the arid climate irritated his skin and lungs. "They were brought here by force. They would much prefer something wetter." Like Gorgon himself, the Hississ were semi-aquatic. Which at least narrowed down the places they could possibly be.

"That killer instinct is exactly why I want one," Gorgon replied annoyedly, "Their venom is quite potent, and touched by the dark side. It will be useful in my studies." He glanced back at the acolyte, "You are here to ensure that nothing gets too close for comfort. Hississ or otherwise."

As if on cue, a sound echoed across the craggy outcroppings nearby. Then a flock of winged silhouettes fly out, and began to head in their direction, "Like that," Gorgon pushed Saahar forward, then ignited his scarlet lightsaber. The shyrack swarm had taken notice of their presence, and apparently they were hungry.

Human shield. Got it.

The girl simply shrugged him off like any teenager would. Wasn’t the first time she’d been reduced down to a simple pawn, she could live with it. Though she did find it mildly insulting when Gorgon went ahead a pushed her like some stubborn work mule.

“They must have heard you talking shit.” The girl mused, dry humor accenting her frown while she ignited her saber. Bogan those things are ugly.”

As if taking insult, one swoop down with a blood curdling screech. With little time to react, Saahar swatted it out of the sky, it’s seared body dropping with a thud.

“They’re going to overwhelm us.” She warned, taking a step back to shield the alchemist. Even resentful she’d still do her job at least half heartedly. “You have a suggestion?”

Saahar did her job well enough, but a lone bodyguard was unlikely to make the difference when a few dozen of these things came crashing down all at once. Gorgon skewered one as it strafed overhead, driving it into the sand.

"Some cover would be nice!" He replied, trying to think as more of them continued to swoop about. The nearest possible defense, a rocky outcropping, was too far away, and in the direction the beasts were coming from. Gorgon raised his hand after a moment, constructing a new plan, "I recommend ducking." He gave her just a moment— He wasn't going to needlessly fry his bodyguard, but he didn't care much to coddle any poor reaction time on her part, not when his life was also at risk. Between his fingers, arcs of electricity generated, then shot out in a spray of lightning. It struck the first few creatures, conducting from one to the next like a web. It brought down their numbers notably.

The hair on the back of Saahar's neck stood at attention all while a web of electricity arced over her head. She couldn't help but marvel at the sight, watching as the flock whittled away one by one. "Wha-? how?" She couldn't help but cast a glance back at Gorgon, strings of lightening knitted across his hands. She suddenly felt very useless and very insufficient. What did he even need a bodyguard for if he could pull a stunt like that?

"Wow uh- neat." Saahar cringed as the words left her mouth. What an astute, clever observation to a genuine feat of force manipulation. The girl sighed as she readjusted from her crouched position. Nobody had ever accused her being intelligent.

Suddenly feeling the need to compensate the girl reached out a hand towards the remaining few, summoning crude tendrils of the force to wrap around the swarm. Sucking in a breath her palm clenched, and with it the bones of a couple shyracks whined and fractured, sending even more in a nosedive to the ground. It was an ugly, frankly awkward maneuver, but it had done the job... even if it left Saahar feeling a little uneasy.

Sith were supposed to be cruel, unfeeling creatures. She had no business grappling with moral standards.
