DESCRIPTION |
In the wake of the Mandalorian Invasion, the need to secure Alliance Territory is a high priority of the Defense Force which has required the procurement of additional vessels to fulfill a myriad of roles and missions. Introducing the second half of the twin designs, the Kota-class was designed alongside the Bel Iblis-class with each being designed to complement the strengths and weaknesses of the other whilst providing the Galactic Alliance an effective means to patrol their borders and maintain internal security in the wake of the Mandalorian Invasion. Whereas the Bel Iblis-class was designed to focus on speed and maneuverability, the Kota-class was designed to focus on armaments and defensive capabilities, thus providing the Galactic Alliance with an effective Strike Corvette. Additionally, as the two share similar design aspects, the Kota-class is known to suffer from a similar unintended drawback in that the ventral section of the vessel is still known to have limited coverage, even with an increased number of weapon systems. The vessel is also known to share additional similar design aspects to its twin which can be seen in the inclusion of a modest hangar; though the vessel is only capable of supporting and deploying a singular squadron to the two that its sister craft can deploy. Likewise, though the vessel maintains a larger array of weapon systems, it is not intended to be thrown against heavier warships. Complementing the strengths and weaknesses of its twin, the Kota-class represents the other half of the warship that is formed when these vessels are deployed in tandem with their sister designs. For this reason, it is not uncommon to sight these vessels alongside Bel Iblis-class Blockade Runners during routine border patrols or escort missions throughout Alliance Territory. |
