Combat Training
As a dropout of a Sith Academy, Koth should be dead, the Sith don't allow for failure. And having a great mind means nothing to them unless one has the strength in the Force to back it up. A raw power that Koth lacked. And while he showed extreme technical proficiency in the bare basics, as well as an incredible aptitude in the more academic side of things. His raw strength simply fell behind. And it would have gotten him killed at a young age if not for the fact of the Sith Academies very rapidly crumbling.
So instead he has a new family, Clan Kryze who instilled upon him the skills of a warrior and through the use of teaching methods that one would not consider psychotic, even encouraged his technological aptitude.
