- 'Liberation' or 'chainbreaking' effect (strengths and weaknesses detailed below)
- Kotsirluuk is a tool of special purpose. The mace has what Ashin terms a 'liberation' or 'chainbreaking' effect, which she can awaken or cease as needed. Within 20 meters of the mace (40 meters if Ashin devotes her full power to bolstering the effect), the mace liberates Sithspawn from any Forcer's control or relevant compulsion.
- The exception here would be if, say, a skilled alchemist was personally directing their own created creatures. Someone like that would be able to retain control despite Kotsirluuk's influence.
- The mace is high-end alchemical metal, more or less indestructible short of sustained Force Light or a one-way trip into a star.
- The mace is easy to carry and use regardless of the owner's physical strength. It also has a very nice shock-absorbing handle.
- The mace, like any very heavy mace with a Sith Lord behind it, can be immensely effective against armor. Maybe that means traumatizing someone right through their invulnerable beskar'gam. Maybe that means concussing a walking-mountain Sithspawn. Or it could just mean making a walker crew crap themselves as their plating starts to dent inward.
- Under the influence of ysalamiri, void stone, or Force Light, the strength enchantment has no effect. This makes the heavy mace usable only by strong species like Whiphids or Wookiees. Ashin would need to put significant focus and effort into strength enhancement to keep using the mace - and ysalamiri, void stone, and Force Light could prevent her from doing that.
- Ysalamiri, void stone, or Force Light would also prevent the mace's liberation effect from working.
- This mace is a mace - it lacks the nimbleness that the average lightsaber duel requires, and is not conducive to finesse.
- The liberation effect impacts all nearby Sithspawn, which can cause severe tactical complications.
- For clarity, Kotsirluuk does NOT allow the user to take control of the liberated Sithspawn. It just breaks their chains and whatever happens, happens.
Many Sithspawn, both sapient and non-sapient, have built-in compulsions to obey Dark Lords. Kotsirluuk's presence (within about 20 meters) overrules compulsions like this, and lets the Sithspawn make their own decisions. Perhaps that means a subservient servant turning on their master; perhaps it means being torn apart by one's own pack hunters; perhaps it means recruiting an interesting ally who's experiencing genuine free will for the first time. The Aksifas built this mace as a proof of concept, but Ashin immediately fell in love with its strange utility and its Naddist roots.
