A subsidiary of the Esashi Corporation. Koyama Game Systems, usually known simply as Koyama, is a consumer electronics and video game company based on Onami Prime. Founded in 238BBY, the company predates the corporation which purchased it and is a recognizable name to any privy to the galactic gaming industry. Developing virtual reality technology, as well as focusing on more traditional game platforms and arcade games, Koyama has produced several of the galaxy's most popular consoles and game franchises. Initially founded with the goal of producing board games and holo-chess titles, the company was relatively unknown to those outside of its market until it begun to diversify into more advanced technologies following its purchase by Esashi in 138ABY, which geared the company towards high-end computer products and games, largely abandoning its simple board game roots.
Run by the Koyama family for most of its early years, the company fell into a secession crisis of sorts following a legal feud between two of the family's brothers, the reason for which remains unclear to this day thanks to long-standing court classifications. It is rumored that Nakaioma legal teams stepped in to resolve the conflict, although in the end both brothers were presumably paid substantial amounts of credits before the company was placed under the direct command of Esashi , which installed a new non-familial chief executive officer. Ending the family's long lasting reign over the company. An early adopter of more neural-based gameplay systems, Koyama has since heavily invested into the realms of virtual reality experiences, developing some of the field's most recognizable FIS' (Full-Immersion Systems) since.
Cooperating closely with several other companies in the production of a number of its consoles and games, both within the Nakaioma family of corporations and third parties, the company has largely embraced digital downloads via the HoloNet. Although physical copies are still sold in many places throughout the galaxy, particularly in poorer, less developed regions, or worlds with known HoloNet shortages. In most of the Core and Inner Rim, digital downloads are the way the company has chosen to move forward. Allowing easier access to their library of games, while working with its parent corporation Esashi and Tanaka Shipping and Logistics to organize its vast amounts of distribution. Currently a majority of its platform sales remain the conventional hands-on systems, however the battle between the norm and fully interactive virtual reality is still to be decided.
RATIONALE
Inherited from his father, Szuko Nakaioma, when he unexpectedly passed away. Saro Nakaioma took the reigns of the massive conglomerate as CEO at the age of 38. Where his father was a steady hand, never wanting to unnecessarily rock the boat, in-order to ensure the conglomerate's continued longevity, in the face of an unstable galaxy. Saro had an opposite view of the situation, seeing the chaos that was enveloping everyone and everything as a means to Nakaioma's growth. Investing heavily in new projects, and innovations in all sectors of their business, and even expanding into new ones. He has become a popular figurehead for the brand name, and is well liked, and feared-when required, among the core elite.
