- Droid Piloted: The Krell-class features no organic crew; the lander is piloted by a sophisticated RMD-9F Anhur droid brain, able to coordinate with the commanding ship and other landers during deployment. The droid brain of the Krell is able to efficiently handle any task required of it, including finding the optimal landing zone with the smallest percent of deployment casualty, ability to fire any or all of its ten anti-infantry weapons to support the deployed soldiers or clear the landing zone, and to pilot the ship in a way to prevent the lander from being shot down.
- Troop Deployment: The Krell-class Assault Lander is designed to carry troops and deploy them safely into the battle, likely under heavy fire from enemy infantry and armor. With a forward-facing deployment hatch that extends down as a ramp to the surface below, the Krell is not required to land, making deployment quicker and more efficient. A shield wall is created by the Krell's MRS-02 Jotun defense system around ten meters away from the bay door, protecting the deploying infantry from oncoming fire. And finally, a total of ten heavy rotary blaster cannons are able to be fired to support the deployed infantry or to clear the landing zone, with all of it combining to make deployment as smooth, efficient and casualty-free as possible.
- Fighter Combat: The Krell-class is not suited for fighter-to-fighter combat. In terms of armament, the Krell devotes most of its weapons towards clearing the landing zone, and it is poorly suited to dogfight against starfighters. It's larger profile than typical starfighters makes it an easier target, and the priorities of the Krell's droid brain make landing its troops supersede any fighter engagement. Thus, fleets must use other models for fighter and bomber roles.
Pong Krell was a legendary tactician and warrior in the days of the ancient Confederacy, who won victory after victory thanks to his pyrrhic tactics, unflinching at even the heaviest casualties. His skill as a strategist and commander was unquestionable, and even after close to a millennia later his strategies are discussed and examined throughout the military academies of the Confederacy. In that same spirit, Roble Manufacturing designed the Krell-class Assault Lander to have the same fighting spirit and tactical importance that Pong Krell was emblematic of.
A troop carrier designed to deploy soldiers onto frontline zones, the Krell-class Assault Lander is piloted by a sophisticated RMD-9F Anhur droid brain that eliminates the chance of the lander being crippled by a chance shot killing the pilot, or the entire payload of soldiers in it being subject to human error. Its droid brain allows it to quickly scan and process information, including the optimal place to touch down, whether any hostile forces are immediately present and the best way to dispose of them, and any other information about its landing zone. As deploying its troops and returning to its carrier vessel is the lander's top priority, the Krell-class will only engage other starfighters or defenses if they are directly impeding its objective and there are no allied forces in the immediate vicinity.
Deploying its troops safely, with minimum casualties, is the Krell-class's top priority. The lander is built to house twenty soldiers double-file, who upon deployment exit the lander via a hatch at the front of the lander. This means of deployment is often considered impractical and unconventional, due to the fact that a frontal deployment hatch means that oncoming enemy fire has the greatest chance of impacting soldiers. However, a rather simple solution was implemented to prevent this problem; the addition of an MRS-02 Jotun defensive system, able to deploy a forward-facing shield up to ten meters in front of the ship to protect deploying soldiers from every kind of conventional weapon. The addition of the Jotun cuts down deployment casualties almost all the way to zero, greatly increasing the efficiency of the ship.
The Krell-class wouldn't be an assault lander without a wide array of assault weapons; as such, the lander is equipped with an impressive ten BAW-63 Heavy Rotary Blaster Cannons, manned by the ship's droid brain and designed to give support fire for the deploying troops or to clear a crowded landing zone. All in all, the Krell-class is a capable, defensive, and innovative assault lander that will change the tides of war.
