- Designed with durability in mind, every inch of the Coarser has been modified to withstand a vast majority of elements a planet may be capable of throwing at it. Including agrinium coating, ray shielding around key components and a quadranium frame.
- Constructed with a B-10 "Tensei" Droid Brain, the Coarser is capable of operating independently from it's designated operator unless directly linked up. This allows it to take command over other droids in the area that are designated to the same purpose of terrain modification or alteration.
- Meshed with silver carbon nanotubing, the Coarser is protected extensively against electromagnetic or ion attacks to prevent it's purposes from being interrupted by unwanted interference.
- Equipped with both molecular and thermal shielding the Coarser is designed to be able to withstand a great deal of punishment in it's duty to cleanse a planet of hostile life; whether that be flora or fauna.
- Equipped with missile launchers, beam cannons and a flame projector, the Coarser possesses a vast level of weaponry against what life it may be required to purge from the surface of a hostile or uninhabitable world.
- High grade hydraulics have been installed into the legs of the Coarser to increase it's speed in accordance with it's size.
- Humanoid Safe: Like most droids created by Krovane Corporation the Ranger is programmed not to engage in violent actions towards any humanoid or being with a strict range of sentience.
- Large Model: Like the Ranger, the Coarser sports a rather hefty size and thus a high resistance to a great many environmental elements. With the inclusion of shielding from both molecular and thermal shields this is bolstered even further.
- Purger: Equipped with a variety of weaponry despite what it's purpose might suggest, the Coarser is still highly dangerous and poses a threat to a great deal of the life that it is purposed to terminate.
- Internal Network: While there are anttenae above the housing of the Coarser, all of it's network components are stored internally and thus much more easily protected.
- Huge target: While the Coarser is built large on purpose, this also poses a significant problem should it come under attack by nefarious enterprises.
- Sonic Impulse: It has little to no protection against sonic weaponry outside of a basic environmental system to prevent basic interference from planetary means.
- Only two Legs: Though large and sturdy, the Coarser is prone to fatal malfunction should either of it's legs be destroyed as it will no longer be able to traverse the surface of a world without the use of of it's appendages.
- Communications Error: While the network components are housed internally, should the chest of the Coarser ever be compromised the unit will cease to function.
- Humanoid Complication: Should humanoids or specific sentient species attack the Ranger it will have little to no way to defend itself outside of sending a distress call to it's operator.
In lieu of Krovane Corporation's desires to build better worlds, improve the lives of the masses and provide a better way of life for the galaxy, it's scientists began to develop prototypes. Prototypes of droids capable of performing measures that could be associated with terraforming worlds that were considered to be either barely habitable or impossible to inhabit. One such model was the Coarser Purger Droid; a droid built large and with the ability to cleanse a variety of planets of flora and fauna that posed a threat to the life that hoped to live there.
Upon acquiring the necessary materials and finalizing the schematics, the scientists began their work in promoting the construction of the Coarser. With the conclusion of their planning for the Ranger, they felt it pertinent to issue out an urgency on the delivery of it's counterpart as well. It was a project that Krovane Corporation was confident would help improve the effectiveness of their environmental goals.
