- Krovos-class transports are heavily armored and shielded, utilizing Golem Advanced Plating and the Kirin Shielding System, to better protect the soldiers and equipment the transport is carrying. The Krovos-class also makes use of several defensive countermeasures and four Leviathan Point Defense Emplacements to better protect it from enemy missiles and torpedoes, along with two dual Valefor Laser Cannon turrets, a dual Ifrit Turbolaser turret, and two variable ordnance launchers for some offensive and support capabilities.
- Making use of two Phoenix Ion Engines, the Krovos-class transport has impressive speeds even with the additional armor plating added onto it from the Golem hull plating.
- The interior of the transport is customizable between three different configuration that allows for the deployment of various amounts of equipment, soldiers, and light support vehicles. The double deployable doors for the passenger and cargo bay, on either side, allow for rapid deployment of assets and equipment into the field and can even be used as boarding ramps for offloading.
- Due to the shield emitters of the Kirin being scattered across the hull, if parts of the hull become damaged, gaps can form in the overlapping shield layers of the transport.
- If the molecular furnaces within the Phoenix Ion Engines become damaged or are sabotaged, they can cause a chain reaction that will consume the engine and significantly reduce the transport's speed and maneuverability.
- While the passenger and cargo bay design allow for rapid deployment of troops, equipment, and vehicles from within it, the design does mean attacks from one side can hit the other and leaves some trooper exposed to crossfire attacks.
As Aurora Industries continued to develop its Highwind Program of starships, they were approached by representatives from the Sith faction led by Darth Carnifex known as the Kainate on behalf of a Sith within known by the name of Darth Pellax. Pellax was in need of a dedicated transport for her own soldiers within the Kainate, and Carnifex had directed her to speak with Aurora Industries for the project and the commission that went along with it. Company representatives agreed to the commission and established the development and production facilities necessary for the project upon the Malsheem.
The transport that was created for the Kainate and Darth Pellax was similar to the Merregon-class transport recently developed for the Sith Order, making use of the same defensive armoring and shielding in the Golem-type hull plating and the Kirin Shielding System. However, the design began to differ when the Sith Lady made some suggestions on design aesthetic, with the design team developing a more cavernous cargo and passenger hold to support a larger number of troops and cargo capacity. The space, like the Merregon, is configurable into three different configurations for whatever use the transport might be put towards with double set of doors on either side for rapid deployment of contained assets.
The Krovos-class transport was also equipped with a dual Ifrit turbolaser turret and two dual Valefor Laser Cannons, along with two variable ordnance launchers, for some offensive and support capabilities. Four Leviathan Point Defense Emplacements were also added for further protection from enemy ordnance and small craft.
