Strengths:
Hidden weapons: The station appears relatively lightly armed from a distance. There are few obvious cannons on the hull or across the docking pylons. When threatened a large number of panels are pulled back, revealing a significant complement of torpedo launchers and long distance weaponry.
Arm’s length: One of the greatest threats in the sector are vessels with short range weapons that can disrupt shields. As such the station is equipped with ordnance and weaponry designed to keep enemy ships from closing. As debris is a significant threat to the operation of the station and orbital facilities, the station is armed to disable enemy ships and them hold them with tractor beams.
Docking: Large number of docking pylons serve a large complement of medium to large freighters at any one time. Large amount of hangar space distributed around the disc for small freighters, personal transports and starfighters. Several larger pylons have multiple docking tubes to serve up to four large capital ships at a time.
Isolation: Systems across the station are heavily segregated and isolated into tiers. Terminals located around the station have no access to primary systems. Weapons, shields, hangar controls and other such systems are heavily isolated by guards and encryption with monitored touch points. Even a skilled slicer would need physical access to a sensitive, well-guarded location and would have to breach one system at a time over a matter of hours.
Weaknesses:
Kid gloves: The station is equipped with few weapons designed to damage enemy vessels. An enemy fleet that retreats from an engagement can often escape having suffered very little damage to primary systems.
Small capacity: This station serves as an operational hub for the region. The heavy armaments limit storage capacity significantly. As such the station needs to operate in an exceptionally efficient manner, with goods moving in and out within a very short period of time.
Description: This station has a very low-key appearance. At first it was a uniform disc with eight pylons. Over time modular compartments were added to the surface of the disc. It now has an almost cobbled together feel that seems worlds away from the sleek kuati and mon calamari ships of the Sith and the Republic.
This station functions as a traffic control hub for Ka'Shebbol, the gateway to the Kathol Sector. Incoming vessels are scanned and assigned flightpaths. If vessels are not cleared for landing they will often dock with the station itself to carry out their business. This also serves as the first line of defence should hostile forces be detected.
The outer docking areas are often very sparse and functional, with more loading droids and machinery than sentient life forms. The inner, habitable zones vary greatly. Organically grown entertainment, shopping and trade districts spring up within each station. On board security forces are typically quite low and the areas have a “shadowport” feel. The very inner tower is for authorised personnel only and houses the main control tower and a redundant command centre.
This doesn’t mean these station are susceptible to boarding. As well as the tractor beams and point defences each hangar has both shields and retractable armoured doors that can seal off hangars from space and the interior of the station. These systems are isolated from others and not accessible from terminals located around the station. When boarded the local miscreants have a habit of taking up arms against the boarding force.
The philosophy of combat design is to disable enemy vessels at long range. Hidden torpedo bays across the hull open up. Guided ordnance affords the station the ability to engage enemies approaching from any angle, whilst ion cannon batteries and energy torpedo launchers are evenly spread and only have limited firing arcs. A full volley of long range ion cannon fire, followed by capital-grade intruder missiles can disable a small raiding fleet in minutes.
At close range the smaller intruder missiles can make approaching the station a difficult task for any fighters, with tractor beams, point defences and quad lasers dealing with anything that manages to close.
