DESCRIPTION
Sono Vhann didn't have it any easier than Verin however. The Galaxy seemed poised to keep punishing anyone attempting anything that resembled stability. It all came to a head during the Lord Regent's attempt to break Kuat away from the Galactic Alliance. A task force of Imperials managed to successfully damage the planetary ring that was the lifeblood of Kuat. With its production output severely damaged KDY found itself suddenly incapable of successfully producing the starships it had made its reputation on.
To compensate for this a transitionary council was formed which tried to stem the bleeding. One of its solutions was the revival of ancient brands to inspire new faith in the business. From clothes to chemicals and freight, the council did whatever it could to create new revenue streams and fill the hole in the budget left by the catastrophic loss of its Drive Yards.
They did not expect that their efforts were in vain, until they were handed their demotion and/or resignation by gunpoint.
RATIONALE
As a consequence of Loghain's attempted rebellion Kuat soon found itself in the crosshairs of two dueling galactic superpowers. The system was the flashpoint between the Galactic Alliance, the New Imperial Order and their conflict. Once the dust had settled Loghain was dead, so was Elane Kuat (the Alliance's preferred successor) and chaos reigned in the Kuat Sector.
Until an old name appeared on the scene. Arage Bao, Lord Admiral of the Humbarine Reach, offered to step into the chaos and forge order. The same way she had done for Humbarine many years ago. A deal was brokered between herself and the Director of SIA,
IVI
, who ended up covertly supporting her temporary position as caretaker of the sector.
Perhaps it surprised few when her steady hand and firm pragmatism made her so popular chants rose up for a new Queen.
Had those calls been amplified by the SIA or Humbarine's own intelligence branch? Who knew. But Arage became Queen and in those transitionary months set into motion numerous reforms to bring Kuat in line with the structure of the Humbarine Reach. Efficiency in all things.
As part of this effort she committed herself to erasing, ejecting and eradicating all elements of corporatism in the Kuat Sector. The main crowning achievement was nationalizing Kuat Drive Yards and bringing it back into the fold of the Kuat Monarchy. Instead of chasing for endless profits, Arage instituted a program of planetary reconstruction with a guaranteed job program to any willing Kuati.
Now Arage controls KDY with an iron fist and is integrating it closer and closer with HumSec Consortium, the parastetal organization that governed the industrial base of the Humbarine Reach.

HISTORICAL RECORDDESCRIPTION
Ever since the inception of the first Galactic Republic, Kuat Drive Yards has been at the forefront of design and innovation. A premier shipwright that has spent millennia upon millennia spent honing, perfecting and plying its trade on the galactic plane. Famed for producing vessels that have forged empires, razed worlds and safeguarded the ideals of rulers and despots alike. The Ten Houses of Kuat ultimately cared little for the what purpose their products were turned to, provided there was a profit to be made and their independence and (perhaps most importantly) their sovereignty was respected. And for the vast majority of Kuat Drive Yards’ history, they reigned largely supreme. Unchallenged, unrivaled, unstoppable.
Or, such was the case. The truth is, it has been a long time since the Ten held any sort of dominion over the orbital ring. In the last few decades alone, the yards have experienced an almost incalculable string of heavy losses, with setback after setback all but decimating the company’s position upon the galactic stage.
A shadow of what it once was, with many of its subsidiaries experiencing their own meteoric falls from grace, it found its once lofty position on the corporate scene a tenuous proposition at best. Many were quick to blame the centuries of mismanagement they experienced at the hands of the noble Houses of old, while others laid it at the feet of the outsiders that claimed ownership of the yards in recent years. The fact Verin's ownership continued that trend has done little to sooth resentment that simmered onboard the once great ring.
Tensions recently came to head, resulting in the untimely coup of Verin's leadership. In her stead, the new face of Sono Vhann now sits on the board.
RATIONALEAfter the contract to salvage and restore the yards was won by Stellarwind Reclamation & Logistics, Runi Verin sought to secure a place upon the board in exchange for waiving the fees SR&L’s services. While understandably reluctant to offer such a prized position to yet another outsider, much less spacer trash from the outer rim, the additional funds offered by Verin and several other investors quickly smoothed over the bulk of the objections. While profitable, Verin's subsequent reign was unfortunately overshadowed by a period of instability in the core, with Kuat and the Yards being traded back and forth by the various governmental powers that rose and fell in quick succession. Ultimately, while Verin would hold on to a sizeable portion of her shares, she would eventually be ousted by the in favor of the Kuati native, Sono Vhann.
