- Nexus Name: Kuolema
- Nexus Alignment: Dark
- Location: The Scintilla, Unknown Regions
- Affiliation: Agents of Chaos
- Size: Medium
- Strength: Moderate
- Accessibility: The Kuolema can easily be seen from the outside of the Scintilla and from many windows that look to its direction. There is only one tunnel that leads to it, and a few emergencies exist that cannot be accessed from the outside. No the location is not hidden by any means, entrance to it is mostly forbidden without special clearance, and only few will ever receive the clearance. Though the sphere itself is civilian and thus offers no actual weapons, only protection, there are patrols at irregular hours stationed at all time, with anywhere between a few dozen to a few hundred worth of squads, containing both organics and droids.
- Description: The Kuolema is a small sphere of 300 meters in diameter that was build around the creation of the crystals that make the nexus up. On the outside, there's not much to talk about; it's just a sphere, and it's a deep color of blue that is almost black. On the inside, the Kuolema is a cold place, with temperatures dropping naturally and without technical aid to little below freezing point. A little bit of water flows within the sphere, and at any point it is considered deadly to consume. A path leads from the entrance of the sphere to its very center, but everything else that is neither path nor water is completely covered with crystals in hues of pinks, blues, and purples. A heavy coat of darkness can be felt upon entrance to the sphere and while remaining there, the emotions of millions of refugee's deaths weighing heavily upon the place.
- The single tunnel that leads to the Kuolema distances it enough so that people who are not in it or directly near it can feel its passively feel its effects.
- Those who are space-walking or somehow manage to get near with their ships to the sphere, will feel it.
- The Kuolema is a heavy nexus in feel. It is hard to approach it and not feel the death of millions of refugees whose lives were snapped in the blink of an eye, sucked out of a sphere that had been build for them and their safety, but then damaged so badly that a hole was bombed open in the hull, sucking everyone out and killing them. Sorrow, loss, pain, regret, betrayal, not understanding. This is not a nexus you send your children to play at.If you thought the death of a loved one was hard, imagine trying to feel the impact of millions of loved ones, all at once.
- The Sith Alchemists of the Garden of Dead have discovered that actively tapping into the Nexus can happen across the Scintilla, and lets the Darksiders have amuch easier time spread negative emotions as a blanket upon the population nearby, as well as make several types of Sith Spells take much stronger effect than the user would normally be able to conduct (these Spells include but are not limited to Reanimate Dead, Aura of Uneasiness, Corpse vision, Dark Side Tendrils , and Smoke Demon).
- Lightsiders sufficiently close to the Kuolema or inside of it will find their ability to access lightside powers incredibly dampened.
Once inside the Kuolema, there is but a single road. To each side, crystal formations cover everything but the road and the water, which streams through in a closed ecosystem, looping between something that can barely be called a river and a small waterfall, seemingly to never evaporate or get re-created.
The Crystals
A few people have reported that while gazing at the crystals, they could see glimpses of their lives in it - of both the future and the past. It is not entirely clear what triggers these sights within the crystals, and most people report not really seeing anything other than just crystals.
Millions of RefugeesAt the entrance of Kuolema, one can hear the names of all those refugees lost that terrible day, being read out, one after the other, with a two seconds pause in between each name. Not all bodies have yet been found or identified, and it is estimated that it will take over a standard galactic year to go through one iteration, perhaps more.
Representatives of the Agents of Chaos had been invited to Siskeen by Viceroy Derek Dib, to assist in the diplomatic negotiations to free the Siskeen System from Confederate control. Little did they know that the entire meeting had been nothing but an elaborate trap to get them there in order to place them under arrest, and Force knows what else would have followed that, had it been successful.
While the meeting on Siskeen took place, the brother of Derek Dib, Muad Dib, with a number of Siskeenie troopers that had been parading as Siskeenie refugees, managed to spread countless of bombs across the space construct. The remaining forces of Agents of Chaos on the Scintilla learned about the bombs too late, and not all of them had been neutralized before it was too late.
One of those bombs blew up on the HOPE sphere, which the Agents of Chaos had created for refugees. It was an a-political sphere, where people escaping from various wars across the galaxy knew they could be safe. The hole that opened because of the bombing breached the shields and the hull, and millions of refugees were sucked into space, suffering one of the most terrible deaths known.
Millions of deaths of refugees who had thought they were safe, who had thought they had escaped the perils of living under this or other's empire's occupation or danger, cried out all at once, and their pain ripped through the very fabric of the Force, forming a small floating island of crystals.
Between the floating corpses, the crystals began to light up. Within moments, any Force User in the area knew what had happened. Agents of Chaos were dispatched to contain the newly created nexus, building a small sphere around it and attaching it to the rest of the Scintilla by a single entrance.
The name given to the sphere - Kuolema - a word that means death in an old language, seemed to be a perfect fit. The Kuolema has been closed off to the general public, with only people with special clearances being permitted to go in there. Despite this, the sphere has incredibly heavy guard, in the form of organics and droids that patrol it at irregular intervals and squad sizes.
The Sith Alchemists of the Garden of Death have researched into the Nexus, trying to learn what it did, what it could do, and what it meant to the Scintilla and the Agents of Chaos. Initial findings tend to be of the expected ones; easier to pull off some Sith Magic, a dreadful feeling of foreboding and pain, and the dampening of lightsiders that come too close.
Additional findings are expected to be uncovered in the future.
