STRENGTHS
A Good Defense: Gauntlet generates a directional shield that can absorb most forms of energy, storing it within the alchemized pyronium components’ hyperspatial matrix.
Is A Strong Offence: User can unleash this energy at will in an intense, amplified blast of directed kinetic force.
WEAKNESSES
False God(hand): Sadly, the gauntlet does not offer omni-directional, omniscient protection. Instead the user has to be conscious of an incoming attack and use the gauntlet to intercept it.
Sweet Science Flaw: Unfortunately it also does not absorb kinetic energy. A vital piece of information the user should bear in mind when entering combat.
Fuel Dependent: Once depleted, the gauntlet will need to be ‘refueled’ before it can discharge again.
All or Nothing: The gauntlet also lacks the ability to variate the intensity of the blast it unleashes. Instead it always discharging its full load in one shot regardless of the user's intention.
High Rise, High Fall: While the theoretical amount of energy it can hold is believed to be exceptionally high and has yet to be discovered, there is always an ultimate cap. At best, reaching it would result in the glove simply stop absorbing until it is unleashed. At worst, it could... Well, explode.
Force Null: Areas of force nullification, such as those created by Ysalamiri, reduce the gauntlet to an over glorified glove.
Force Light: While not strictly a darkside artifact, they can still be damaged by applications of Force Light much in the same way as all creations of Sith Alchemy.
DESCRIPTION
Having previously had a SR&L smuggling crew run afoul of a Shadowfang Beast on a distant uncharted backwater, Runi found herself intrigued by the survivor’s tales of the creature’s inordinately high defensive capabilities and the obvious similarities it held to the conventional Xythan force shield technology. With that curiosity getting the better of her, and being no stranger to pitting herself against sithspawn due to the relationship she held with her mentor in alchemy, the Warden set out to see just how tough the beast really was.
These gauntlets were fashioned from what was left over from that encounter. A full set of twelve were made in total. The scales of the Shadowfang Beast forming the outer focus for the force artifact she fashioned, being inscribed and interwoven with similarly alchemimsed pyronium before being mounted on a central glove of Ankarax leather. The end effect is designed to elicit a rough similar to the Shadowfang’s own innate resonance-absorptive shield, although a little more controlled and disciplined to avoid the obvious collateral damage.
When held towards an incoming attack, the gauntlet produces a semi-translucent blue force field that quickly nullifies and absorbs the energy, shunting it off into the alchemised pyronium’s hyperspatial matrix. The exact maximum capacity of this has yet to be fully charted, but is suspected to be extremely high based on initial tests carried out.
The smoke stone removes the need for a specific gesture or trigger, allowing the user to unleash the stored energy in the form of a kinetic blast with a thought. The intensity of the blast is directly proportionate to the amount the gauntlet has absorbed up until that point. The direction and focus of these blasts can also be governed by the placement of the user’s fingers. For example, a splayed hand would produce a much wider and therefore less accurate blast than those held tightly together.
