Culture: The hive is hostile towards outsiders and in times when food cannot be found towards each other, acting like a hornets nest if attack where all swarm through the tunnels. The queens birth several males at a time and can do it regularly producing nearly three hundred over the course of a year. That is a lot of mouths to feed but they know how to raise some of the creatures such as the skr-ul in pens or find food down below. Their former sentience not fully diminished but lesser then it used to be.
Technology level: Primitive clubs, loincloths, swords, teeth and claws
General behavior: They are very communal, the males are smaller tending to the female who is always eating and reproducing new males with one or two females. When a female is born they are taken away by the males in her birth to form their own colony making and beginning the cycle anew. Their inherent hostility towards anything that enters the dark tunnels and ancient underground cities their ancestors built are merited given what was done to them and how to survive. Their use of crude tools is one of the few things to partially survive through the generations not evolving and not really changing as the stone for harvesting foods to be eaten as usually passed from colony to colony.
History: The La-dab were once a thriving civilizations, living in the Asobi system, their art and culture before they learned of intersteller travel and beyond the nebula only something of a dream. The Queen's of the hives worked hard while the Regal Go Nagai their allies and friends saw to the world using the drones males to colonize and build their temples, their tunnels and their ships.
Then slowly as time went on things changed, the La-dab were seen as lesser, they didn't provide to the society as the Ren did, the new slaves that came from the stars and had introduced star maps, they were not as strong or protective as the Ren... They had nothing to offer as the Go Nagai took tot he stars and over took the entire system spreading the La-dab far and wide in tunnels and temples on the worlds.
Their purpose was to always have ones to maintain their greatness, to have something to serve them here in the system that wouldn't fight back, with the simplicity of the males mines and the immobile nature of the females who could birth several males at a time quickly the Go Nagai let them build and maintain the tunnels until they disappeared. The Labad being forced underground and deeper into the tunnels as they were sealed by the taungs.
There they waited, feeding on the smaller creatures and predators of the Asobi system that lived in the dark waiting and changing. Becoming something more and something less, their once skilled intelligence degraded over the eons making them more hive minded, they served the female and worked to keep the tunnels up while searching for food. They attacked other things and whatever sounded like food while their eyes over generations adjusted to never seeing the light again.
Their skin became sensitive to the sun to the point it nearly boiled it when exposed and when men in armor came they fought back using the tools they once had, ancient swords long since rusted to fight and clubs for food. The dark was their friend and ally as they slowly continued to devolve into primitive creatures that were the boogiemen of the systems stories.
