- Army Name: Lao-mon Planetary Defense Force (this is what they call themselves, not an official name; to most they are simply known as "Shi'ido rebels" or "Lao-mon defenders")
- Classification: Rebel Forces
- Affiliation: Shi'ido | Lao-mon
- Army Symbol: The snake eating its own tail, a symbol found in To'polism.
- Description: A mix of Shi'ido professional military forces, mercenaries, militia, and riff-raff that have banded together to combat the Brotherhood of the Maw on Lao-mon.
- Headquarters: Cythera, Lao-mon
- Goals: To fight back against the Maw invaders and restore freedom and sovereignty of Lao-mon to the natives.
- Reputation: The rebels are a godsend to the enslaved and put-upon Shi'ido, their best hope for survival and rescue during the Maw occupation. To the Maw, they are a nuisance, representing the bulk of the resistance to their rule. Outsiders to this conflict likely have no opinion of the rebels beyond the traditional "empire bad, rebels good" mentality endemic to the galaxy far, far away.
- Army Size: Huge
- Composition:
- The Cytherai - Psychic Warriors that tend to make up the bulk of commanders and officers. Valued for their leadership and ability to communicate with troops telepathically, issuing orders and delivering information instantaneously.
- Ku'sharnan Shamans - Beastmasters who use large predatory animals as battle mounts or attack units.
- Spies and Saboteurs - Various, drawn from civilian populace. These people use their shapeshifting abilities to blend in with slaves or with members of the Maw themselves in order to spy on the enemy. Some may also be Benandanti of lower rank in order to resist the effects of Maw breaking techniques.
- Micians - A nomadic tribe of Shi'ido who have reluctantly joined the ranks of the rebel army out of necessity. Under normal circumstances, they would be considered social outcasts. They tend to cause the most trouble and have the most problems with other Shi'ido, but they are also some of the fiercest warriors in the army and are skilled at aerial attacks.
Tammuz Hoole - Major general of the army. Was a retired Jedi Master who lived through the Gulag Plague. Member of the Benandanti clan. He is advanced in years and beginning to feel his age, though he remains sharp and his shapeshifting abilities are well-practiced. Still carries a lightsaber and is venerated among the Shi'ido as a great Jedi and war hero, though his legend may have been exaggerated and doesn't necessarily reflect his true capabilities.
Pygar Hoole - Tammuz's adopted son. He is not a Shi'ido; he is a Sith Changeling, a type of Sithspawn. Pygar hates the Sith and the Dark Side, and is very protective of his adoptive family/homeworld. He acts as Tammuz's trusted spy and saboteur.
Enkidu Matta - Speaker for the people; the riff-raff listen to him and tell him their complaints. Tammuz uses him as a go-between and speaker, as well as a commanding officer. He is massive in size and incredibly strong even by Shi'ido standards, but a little on the slow and lumbering side.
McGill - Not his real name; mysterious individual who didn't grow up on Lao-mon but hates the Maw with a passion. By Shi'ido standards, he is still in his teenage phase. Frequently hangs around with Enkidu and is the de facto leader of a colorful group of misfit youths displaced from Goshen. Is considered a bit of a loose cannon and a potential troublemaker, but knows his way around tech and can slice into computers, repair droids, etc.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
There never was a Lao-mon Planetary Defense Force before the Maw invaded. The Shi'ido had long gotten away with hiding from invaders, blending in with the trees and taking the forms of non-sentient animals to escape their notice. But now, with their planet under attack by forces more vicious than any they have ever experienced, they had no choice but to join together in a rebellion.
Tammuz Hoole, a retired Jedi Knight, was one of the first to form a band of rebels from survivors that fled the destruction of Goshen. The group grew in size as they traveled through the wilderness, conducting sudden quick guerilla strikes on the Goshen War Camp, rescuing prisoners and freeing slaves. The army grew as the shamans and the Cytherai were added to their number, and the discovery of a major rebel base forced them to move their area of operations to Cythera, where they remain today.
