The subjugation of Glee Anselm had been completed. The planet was now under One Sith control and protection. The former ruling Council of Ten had been deposed, and a new one had risen in its place. However, there had been a few notable changes. The Council served more as advisors, rather than an actual ruling body. The Sith had also added a totalitarian twist, and amongst them there had been elected one for the position of Supreme Leader. Of course, all of the council members had been handpicked and approved by the Sith, so which of them got elected for that position did not matter. They would all bend to the will of the Dark Lord. In truth, he or she had little actual power. The so-called Supreme Leader was little more than a puppet. All that remained now was to crush the Anselmi rebellion.
During the Sith invasion, the Nautolans had been pushed back by the Anselmi. It was all a part of a Sith ploy. The Sith Assassins had been placed in various key positions, pushing the Anselmi to wage war, and in some cases, directly supporting their armies. The former government of Glee Anselm proved incapable of dealing with the threat. Now the Sith were here to take care of the matter. The propaganda machine was hard at work, and it was believed that the Anselmi could be used to increase Sith popular opinion. They were all bricks and pieces in the game played by the Sith.
Since the official takeover of Glee Anselm, agents of the Sith had taken command of Nautolan forces. They were once more rising from the sea, and they were pushing the Anselmi back. It had only been some weeks since the start of it, but so far it had been a very successful campaign. However, their gains had not been made without taking heavy losses. The Nautolans were genetically stronger, not to mention better equipped, but the warlike Anselmi were ferocious. In the end, without the Sith Assassins working undercover and leading them, the Anselmi stood no chance to stem the tide. Glee Anselm belonged to the Nautolans now, their war justified through Anselmian aggression.
The re-conquest had been planet wide, and as such, the Anselmi had been fought on multiple fronts. Tanek had led his forces, while other Sith had taken charge of offenses elsewhere. Other Sith had joined in with Tanek's group as well. They had executed their orders to the letter, and captured their objectives with lethal efficiency. The Togruta liked to play a fast-paced, high risk high gain game. He had felt the hate stirring through his camp after almost being on forced march more often than not. But when they caught their enemies unaware, arriving before what was thought possible, it had all changed. The Togruta had gambled, but it had paid off.
The Anselmi were a warlike people, and furiously independent. They were divided into many different tribes, or nations as they would call them. They may have attacked the Nautolans simultaneously, but their unity did not stretch far beyond that. Now, however, pushed back on all fronts, the Anselmi had been forced to unite. From all over Glee Anselm, Anselmi refugees and remaining troops had flocked to what they considered to be their holy ground. Here, the warrior tribes had united under one banner, to face a common enemy. Here they would make their last stand, and here they would be crushed.
Similarly, the Sith armies had united, finally meeting up and forming into one grand army. The numbers on both sides were great. No doubt the next day would litter the battlefield with corpses. It was the way of the Dark Side. Only the strong survived. And the Sith needed the strong to keep fighting for them. War never ends. Tanek and his forces had arrived just this morning, but the troops had been gathering for a few days. Scouts were posted all over the terrain, surrounding the Anselmi encampment. There would be no retreat. There was nowhere left to go but into the Netherworld.
It was now, on the eve of battle, that the Sith commanders and their entourage met up in a large tent. A war council was held, where the fate of tomorrow was decided. Ever the traditionalist, Tanek was dressed in the dark Sith garbs. Naturally, he was all in black. Black pants, boots, the hooded Sith robe, with the tunic and undertunic underneath it, which complimented his muscular form well. Living a life in constant conflict, as was his philosophy, had its perks. Being subject to the constant physical strain that came from being Darth Vornskr's apprentice didn't hurt either. Or, well, it did, but it helped make both body and mind hard as stone.
Looking across the war tent, he made note of some of the individuals there. He didn't really know anyone there well personally, but he was aware who to expect. Some, he knew, had been there since the start of the Sith invasion. Others had only joined now, to finish the Anselmi off. The girl, [member=Melori Raaf], he heard had been involved in claiming a building and marking it as a point of strategic value to establish a Sith base. Melori laid the foundation, upon which Sith means to control the populace was built. The leader of the assassins, [member=Darth Ferus], was there as well. He had played an integral part in the initial uprising of the Anselmi, and would play an equally great part in their fall. It was almost poetic. Reports coming in from his theatre of war had been particularly gruesome. For the Anselmi. He was accompanied by one of his promising assassins. Her name had not been mentioned in any reports. The Rattataki, [member=Saiah], was not the kind you heard of. Had a report mentioned her, something had gone wrong. You didn't hear of her involvement, you only heard of her results. Tanek knew she had been keeping herself busy. While not favouring the role of a general, Saiah was fully capable of breaking armies. As always, when gathering large numbers to serve in an army, logistics had to match. Saiah had been a step ahead of one of the Anselmi leaders, harassing their supplies every step of the way. What little they had received had been poisoned. With their moral at an all time low, they had quickly fled when a Nautolan army had descended upon them.
It was difficult not to feel pride from being associated with the Sith. Tanek couldn't help but feel that had the Anselmi leaders seen who had gathered in this tent, plotting their demise, they would've committed collective suicide.
