When the Confederate Remnant first founded the city of Regnum, bold volunteers faced the Expanse. Their new home was a cruel one - filled with monstrosities and raiders alike. Though the odds were against them, Regnum's defenders bled to keep its people safe. Over the next seven years, their struggles turned into victories. Their victories into conquests. Now, what began as humble volunteers has evolved into the fighting force of the Ascendancy: The Regnum Star Legion (RSL).

Defenders of the Ascendancy
Their Hope was the grateful faces of Regnum's people after every thwarted raid.
Their Heroes? They were their brothers and sisters fighting with them, their Primarchs standing alongside them, and their Dominus charging before them.
Thus, for many bloody years, the volunteers fought with next to nothing but gained everything They grew better at contesting the threats of their new home. They soon had actual walls to defend and roofs to sleep under. They even had actual equipment that could keep them safe. But the Regnum Star Legion never forgot where it came from. And this remembrance can be seen in their preference of thick dusters and crudely-shaped armor to this day.
At present, the Legion is a united military force. It does not feature any bureaucratic, separate divisions. It does not award rank based on nepotism or status. Experience and placing service before self are the sole means of elevation. The Legion is founded upon and thrives on Loyalty: to the Throne, to the Ascendancy, and to each other.

Hierarchy and Roles
As a united military force, the Regnum Star Legion does not possess numerous, separate hierarchies. Rather, each member is provided with combat, reconnaissance, and survival training before choosing a specialization. Leadership, therefore, exists as a single, simple chain-of-command.

As each graduate possesses a foundation of combat, reconnaissance, and survival training, specializations exist to hone their skills in a particular field. To date, there are four specializations available to members of the Legion:
NAVARCH: Soldiers who specialize in vehicular combat, be it space or terrestrial. This specialization is responsible for seizing space, air, ground, and sea superiority via warmachines. Here are found starship commanders, pilots, tank operators, and more.
LEGIONNAIRE: Soldiers who specialize in shock tactics and raid operations. This specialization encompasses the majority of the Legion's forces and features marines, commandos, patrolmen, ship-boarding specialists, orbital drop specialists, and more.
VULPES: Soldiers who specialize in reconnaissance, intelligence, and espionage. This specialization provides valuable data on enemy machinations and suppresses domestic dissent. Even Consuls are not exempt from the scrutiny of the Vulpes. Here are found scouts, spies, assassins, and more.
AUXILIARY: Soldiers who specialize in logistics and domestic defense. This specialization maintains the flow of supply to the Legion and is dispatched to hold newly-captured territory. All Consuls of the Ascendancy are bestowed a detachment of Auxiliaries to aide in jumpstarting their world's infrastructure and to cement its security. Here are found medics, requisition specialists, engineers, and more.
