Points of Interest:
- Zonif Square: Named in honor of the town's first mayor, the square is usually the busiest place here in town. Many vendors line up with their stalls, guards stand watch - a platform for entertainment sits just beyond the statue of Zonif.
- Water Mill Lane: Built along the various mills that are here along the river, Water Mill Lane is where you can purchase most of your lumber, flour, waterskins, and various raw materials. It is also where you'll find one of the more popular taverns; The Water Wheel.
- Meditation Chamber: Looks much like a church, but it serves for those who need a quiet place to worship or to worship in a congregation. Each day brings something new, many groups pick a day and time in which to hold their service. There is almost always a room to spare for those who wish to meditate in solitude.
- The Nailed Horn: Another popular place, the Nailed Horn is an inn next to the Bard College, you'll often find aspiring bards performing here. The Nailed Horn also offers rooms to rent up to two weeks in advance if you can find their holo.
- Leonasa's Bard College: Teaching the ancient art of Bardic song, dance and oratory performances, the college is relatively small and its acceptance rate is very small.
- Bee's Cafe: A small cafe facing the square with its back to Water Mill Lane, it serves some of the best Leoquaes around.
- Big Roar Brewery: A small microbrewery, creating some of the finest rice based beverages this side of the mountains. Big Roar trades up river to Maurius and also further down stream to some of the larger towns and villages.
- Speeder Hub: A speeder hub near Water Mill Lane connects Leonasa to the outside and more importantly, offworld - galactic realm. The speeder hub can take you to Maurius and other places including the bigger cities that hold spaceports capable of hosting larger transports and freighters.
Description: Behind Leonasa you can almost make out the smoke from Maurius, almost. The river flows down from the mountains and runs by the town. Several mills are built along its path, two lumber mills and three flour mills with at least one of them making rice into flour. Part of the river has been diverted for irrigation, and wells dot the town as well blacksmiths, and various crafting shops who make good use of the water here. A bath house sits far along the river as well on the edge of Leonasa. A small set of guards patrol the perimeter, watchtowers and a barracks are also here in town, often you’ll spot a convoy of guards and merchants heading for Maurius to conduct trade.
The barracks houses no more than a handful of guards at a time, mostly the men and women who have no home to go. At best the town boasts a hundred guards who rotate shifts between standing in the market and sitting by the town’s main hall where the mayor runs the town council and works to govern Leonasa from. Leonasa’s main trade are its livestock and beasts of burden. Especially ones that can handle the mountains and visit villages like Maurius, fields of grain, orchards of produce make out most of the land here, with the town’s buildings built fairly close together.
History: Leonasa sprang up as an answer to Maurius, the ones who did not want to leave Monastery stayed they settled down stream from Maurius and created Leonasa. A place where once more, simple values lend themselves to a simple life. Farming, herding, and crafting make up most of the town’s trades, taverns, inns and other places that promote socialization also dot the town but aren’t nearly as focused on. Leonasa is said to have been founded somewhere near the end of the dark years, with the first mayor being of Twi’Lek descent a statue of her sits in the main square. It reads, ‘to those who wish to begin anew, may they find fresh waters along our shores.”
Something Zonif Oonsoova (said Twi’Lek) often said, as she encouraged those from Maurius to think about the lives they wished to lead after leaving it. Leonasa’s population fluctuated due to the Netherworld events leaving it a nearly deserted town. A Seoularian by the name of Tae-Sun Lee reinvigorated life here at Leonasa creating wonderful treats and snacks from the rice that was sent down from Maurius. Tae-Sun’s legacy lives on in the unique Leoquaes, or Leo Cakes. Rice based snacks often filled with a bean pudding, or sometimes something more savory or sweet.
The population here tends to come and go, much like Maurius it serves to be a home to those in need of one.
Intent: To provide members of the OSL a mid-sized town to interact with outside of the Sanctuary.
