BIOGRAPHY:

"I'm Proud of you."

There's nothing sweeter and yet more bitter than recognition from your family. For Lesana this wasn't any different; she had always wanted to be an engineer. It was her dream, and everyone had a dream, everyone has an ambition. Growing up the eighth in a line of nine others to two career parents was not easy and although they had a modest wealth and lived comfortably, it wasn't enough. What could ever be enough for someone who didn't even know who they wanted to become?

"She does well in private school."
"Her technical skills are improving faster than expected."
"We have great expectations for Lesana, Mr. Grexavis."

It was always praise from her teachers, colleagues, and masters. But why couldn't her father -- a renowned engineer -- accept the fact that she was just as good if not better than him. There's a point when you're following your dreams and then there's the point where you make them happen. This happened the moment she laid eyes on a large warship coming in to refuel. The small shipyard she grew up working at did not accommodate many large starships, her father served as one of the senior engineers who repaired cargo crates. Although his opportunities were small, he had a recognized ability and came up with many designs to improve the shipyards functions. These were things that Lesana looked up to, and tried her very best to emulate...

But the day that warship came in she had finally realized what she wanted to do, who she wanted to become, the path she'd always pursue. She wanted to become a shipwright. Securing her father's blessing was not an easy task, however. He had wanted her to take over his name, despite being the second youngest she had been the only one who pursued engineering. Her eldest pursued mining, or if they were lucky got educated off-world. So the moment she asked for his blessing, and what little credits he saved away for her future; it became clear that he wasn't interested.

"Lessana. You can work on all the ships you'd like comin' in for repairs. You can even build a few scrap speeders, but building starships is no easy task..."

Another lecture was the last thing she needed. And feeling guilty as she always did was out of the question, a single act of defiance is all it takes. With what scraps and parts lied around Lesana built a small low-orbiting starship. No capabilities. It flew, it did controlled-crashing, and sometimes the oxygen would last. The craft was poorly built, but it flew and that single act is all it took. Well... Not entirely, it did also mean accidentally breaking much of the family home, getting in trouble with the security forces, and being fined a fortune.

"I'll never be able to forget the look in his eyes..."

Waiting for the inevitable was much like sticking your hand in the oven and waiting for it to get too hot. Sooner or later it'll happen, and when it does it won't leave a pleasant experience. the bitter aftertaste of trouble, the embarrassment of failure, and shame of causing more harm than good wasn't the worst part. Her own father not only gave up on her dreams, but that bit of money he set aside had to go pay for the damages. There was that constant ringing in the ear. The crash had caused one of the pressurized air tanks to burst, the shockwave and noise ripped right through the eardrum. Sure, not a hard fix, but it's not exactly like they had money on the table or under it.

The Grexavis' reputation was in tatters. Fewer would come to them for work to be done, and even fewer would walk that side of the shipyard again. Confined to doing odd jobs, Lesana's life did not get any easier. Whilst she drew up blueprints for beautiful starships, none were ever going to be made. It almost made it seem like the earlier days were better...Once more, things would change. One of her siblings -- a brother -- had been enlisted into military service and died before he even saw battle. The transport ship's design had a fatal error, one of the panels wasn't sealed properly and the entire hull decompressed. There were no survivors. This news was unbearable.

A few years past, Lesana was twenty-three and on her way to regaining some gratitude for her family name. Not exactly a shipwright, she had been modifying vessels passing through to be more protected and safe as they traveled through the fringes. Some of her designs were even bought off by local shipwrights who she may have been unofficially studying under. That was the day she did not expect to come, the day her father came to her with small yet endearing words.

"I'm proud of you."

It was not as pleasant as expected. The recognition you've been waiting for; in fact he had made her feel guilty. Was it selfish? Who knew by this point. It turns out the military responsible for her brother's death left some money behind as compensation. A government could hardly compensate for accidental death but what was more present was that it was for her. Her father wanted nothing more than to help her pursue her goals, he found a master shipwright on Nar Shaddaa. An old friend, actually, he would allow her to train under him as long as she could pay for her own living expenses. With the blood money in her pocket, the clothes on her back, and what tools she took with her it was time to set out. Two years past and now she was a shipwright. Her dream, her ambition, her goal had come true but there was still something missing.

Only time would tell what that would be or how she'd obtain it. For now, her passion was realized. Things may have gotten better but it's not like they'd get any worse if the time came. Or would they?

Nice so far, looking forward to reading the bio etc. :)
Haha... I'm still trying to work on the bio; my creativity is masked by my tiredness so I'm unable to come up with anything that doesn't sound dull or unassuming. I'll hopefully have it finished by tomorrow :p

:p finally got the bio out. Will probably be reviewing and editing constantly. I feel like it was written as a cliche but that's the general idea of her background; I'll probably make it a bit shorter and more coherent, though.
