Do I have to be a member of the Levantine Sanctum to join the Academy?
No. If you enjoy working with Levantines during your Academy time, the Sanctum may be a good fit for you, but factionless characters and members of other factions are welcome. Your IC rationale can often be an exchange program.
Where is the Academy located?
Oswaft Station, currently located above the planet Laekia, which is capital of the Levantine Sanctum.
Does my character have to wear the uniform?
Yes, when in class and on training missions. Free time, like in the Blind Jump Cantina, is yours to do with as you wish, so long as you don't disgrace yourself. The edge of the chest patch is color-coded to your status. Green edge is new recruit, red edge is junior, blue edge is senior, no colored edge means instructor or staff. If you're an exchange student or guest teacher from another faction, feel free to wear your other uniform.
Is this a Force academy?
No. This is a lot closer to Starfleet Academy than to a Jedi Academy. We're focused on 'NFU skills' like command, tactics, science, engineering, diplomacy and navigation. Force-sensitive students often work with private tutors on their own time, learn to use their talents to augment the skills they study here, or spend a 'semester abroad' at various Jedi training centers if they are interested. We offer no classes in Force abilities or lightsabre combat, though our students learn how to react to enemy battle meditation and other Force-related hazards. Using the Force to give yourself an edge in class competitions is cheating, and we have Force detectors.
Who teaches, PCs or NPCs?
A variety of NPC and PC teachers will be available. Feel free to invent your own NPC teachers, so long as they're plausible. Oswaft Station and cadet field missions are primarily setting for the stories you want to write. Though you're encouraged to keep your Academy-related thread trackers up to date, and your progress is noted, the primary focus of this faction is writing engaging stories as students and starships' crewmembers.
Can I be an instructor?
Absolutely, within reason. If your character has some relevant experience and a good reason for being involved, feel free to play a visiting professor, either in core subjects or specialty seminars. If you enjoy it, stick around and we'll work something out.
Who sets the missions? Will I be able to go off on my own adventures?
Though we'll have a 'missions board,' our approach here is very freeform. Create and execute whatever training missions you see fit, within reason. (The Academy is not going to send a ship commanded by cadets to go tackle a major Sith incursion.) We'll also run group training missions, short-term or ongoing classroom threads, and/or location-based threads depending on demand.
