The Leviathan-class Assault Frigate is among the first of a new generation of ships specifically designed for service within the Confederacy of Independent Systems' Navy. It is the standard among the faction's frigates and, as evidenced by its mass-production, is anticipated to see multitudes of service across Confederate space. As a whole, the Leviathan-class Assault Frigate is a veritable warship whose role revolves around assault and space superiority. In light of this, the engineers of Druckenwell Shipyards saw fit to equip this vessel with a strong assortment of offensive equipment and defensive capabilities.
First and foremost, while the vessel's primary means of defense are simply standard deflector shields, the Leviathan-class Assault Frigate has the capacity to withstand a larger degree of punishment than vessels of comparable size and function. This is due to he fact that its hulls are composed of thick layers of durasteel and duranium; thereby granting the ship a high degree of durability. While this does come at the cost of increasing the ship's weight, and thereby decreasing its overall potential for swiftness, the Druckenwellian designers saw fit to equip the Leviathan-class Assault Frigate with several strong engines and a core capable of adequately powering them. As such, the vessel is relatively capable of moving at the same speed of comparable size; but just barely.
In terms of armaments, the Leviathan-class Assault Frigate is fully equipped with a balanced arsenal in order to fulfill its assault and space superiority roles. Its assortment of cannons, which vary in size, range, effect, and magnitude, make the vessel extremely versatile; as it is capable of effectively engaging enemy forces under a myriad of scenarios. Furthermore, the Leviathan-class Assault Frigate's compliment, which consists of a small squadron of starfighters, serves to further this capability through the capacity of being deployed in order to assist in the defense of the ship or aiding in the capture and maintenance of space superiority.
