It will be... uncooperative essentially until its owner returns, however as mention it can be weakened and then perhaps it might have a change of heart.

No matter how much knowledge it gains, the grimiore will always remain light, and easy to carry for its owner. Others will find it a massive almost impossible tome to hold, the Force skews perception of the book.
