STANDARD FEATURES

  • All standard features. It possesses sensors, computers, and other technology comparable to other ships of its size and class.
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • The Liberty's Tree can do what few stealth transports can: it looks inconspicuous all the time. Ostensibly it is just one of the many cargo transport ships common on the rim. Libertas does not let pride get in the way, so she can actually run cargo and conduct salvage operations when needed. Its modular structure means that internal alterations can be carried out with relative ease, making room for more cargo space or Libertas' minions. Defences, manoeuvrability and speed are a cut or two above average. This ensures the ship can get out of danger quickly and keep its crew alive.
  • A signature modulator and a holographic shell can allow it to disguise itself as another ship if needed.
  • Moreover, it uses Programmable Paint, a False ID Transponder and a Sensor Modulator to change its identity where needed. Furthermore, Energy Dampeners, Static Dampeners, and Emission dampeners allow the ship to hide from most lange sensors, but it cannot fire weapons or boost its engine while doing this.
WEAKNESSES
  • Lacks heavy armaments. This is not a ship for slugfests or protracted combat. It is more advisable for it to use its speed to get out of danger. Its purpose is infiltration, not direct combat.
  • No hangar space means the ship lacks support or attack craft.
  • The holographic shell is not without drawbacks. The systems memory only allows a single disguise, which has to be pre-programmed and cannot be altered in the middle of a mission. Moreover, the disguise is only useful at short range. Close investigation or touching will unravel the illusion.
  • The ship only has passive stealth and does not visibly cloak. It also cannot fire weapons while these features are active. When it comes to stealth, its greatest feature is its ability to hide in plain sight rather than vanish altogether.
DESCRIPTION

The Liberty's Tree is based on the design of the GR-75 Medium Transport. Produced by Gallofree Yards, this transport ship saw heavy use during the Galactic Civil War. Many of these ships were utilised by the Rebel Alliance's fleet, which used them to evacuate Rebel personnel from Echo Base during the Battle of Hoth. It is the type of irony that the eccentric Sith anarchist fully appreciates. The ship is probably not the type of vessel one would expect a Sith Lord to use as a mobile base and infiltration ship. That is why it works. Transport ships of this nature are a dime a dozen in the galaxy. This means the ship can do something even many stealth transports have trouble with: look inconspicuous all the time.

After all, people and cargo are always being moved around. The ship has been optimised for speed, agility and defences. By contrast, its armaments are unimpressive, but then it was not designed with open combat in mind. Though ber brutish appearance might suggest otherwise, Libertas prefers operating from the shadows and is not into imperial dreams of galactic domination. Imperial glory always fades, after all. The ship allows her to go many places without arousing suspicion. Of course, Libertas herself does not look innocuous, but that is not a problem in space, which it what matters.

In order to enhance the ship's versatility, it has been equipped with a tractor/pressor projector. This allows it to function as a salvage ship. Magclamps allow the ship to latch onto larger derelict vessels or stations, while a hull cutting ring can facilitate the boarding of such vessels. Fittingly, one of Libertas' apprentices, Nur Jahan, runs a small salvage business, which gives the Liberty's Tree a good cover. A Solid Fuel/Ration Converter ensures the crew will have enough fuel and rations as long as there is solid matter to salvage.

The Liberty's Tree has been equipped with some special features to aid in infiltration. A signature modulator and a holographic shell can allow it to disguise itself as another ship if needed. Moreover, it uses Programmable Paint, a False ID Transponder and a Sensor Modulator to change its identity where needed. Libertas keeps a collection of false IDs on hand. Signatures could be fabricated or emulated as needed given a decent mechanic and accurate sensor readouts of the appropriate data. Reduced sensor signatures, drive baffles and other sensor dampening systems allow the ship to slip past standard sensors. These features are passive, so the ship does not visibly cloak when they are active. Moreover, firing weapons or boosting engine power will break the concealment.

The vessel has a clamshell-like durasteel hull and a turadium frame. It features a deflector shield, which has been upgraded to an Eidolon deflector shield. This enables it to counter weapons and devices that normally bypass shields, such as Solar Ionisation Cannons and Individual Field Disruptors. The ship's defences are quite tough, allowing it to take a beating, though it can obviously be worn down. In comparison to the classical GR-75, the Liberty's Tree benefits from a more powerful hypderdrive. It is a significant step up from the factory model, though not exceptional by modern standards. Stock fire suppression systems have been set up throughout the ship. There is also a system of cap drains, and vital systems have their wiring protected by electromagnetic shielding.

The interior of the vessel is utilitarian. This explicitly includes Libertas' personal quarters, which can be best described as Spartan. Libertas has an ascetic life style. Ironically, it has more in common with that of an old school Jedi from the time when Jedi had to swear a vow of poverty rather than the common image of a Sith Lord or, to put it plainly, many contemporary Jedi. Thus her quarters do not have a hottub, a relaxa-bad or similar frivolous stuff.

Her room is a place of reflection, planning and meditation, and the ship is not a pleasure cruise. Moreover, most of her body has been replaced by cybernetics, so she simply lacks the ability to enjoy most creature comforts. Her quarters include an office area and a meditation chamber. The office includes a data terminal as well as a work bench for modifying or otherwise tinkering with equipment. There are also some lockers for storage. Moreover, it features a powerful holonet connection, which also allows Libertas to access the DarkNet. Libertas has a number of hidden drawers in her room to hide items of value so that they will not be easily detected by boarders. The crew quarters are utilitarian, though there is a common room for people to get together and mingle. Libertas makes a point of being affable and approachable to her crew. It helps keeps them loyal when she orders them to do evil deeds.

Like the model that inspired it, the Liberty's Tree is able to hold hundreds of cargo containers within a magnetic lock which also keeps the atmosphere within the field. Modular cargo pods greatly speed up the loading and unloading process. This is all part of the cover, but not just for show, as Libertas is quite willing to run cargo when needed. She is wise enough to let pride get in the way of survival. Alternately, cargo space can be traded for increased capacity to hold personnel - in other words, mooks. This allows Libertas to deliver her acolytes and other armed minions into an area. They can disembark from several points, and theoretically drop pods could be launched from the ship, though this is done rarely. In its standard cargo configuration, the ship is able to carry nineteen thousand metric tons of cargo. If it is used for troop transport, its cargo capacity is significantly reduced to about two thousand metric tons.

Through the incorporation of a Ghostwave transmitter, the vessel is equipped with high powered communication equipment capable of encrypting and transmitting across vast distances. Moreover, it has Anti-Ion Emission Tracers to prevent its hyperspace travel from being tracked and a Hyperwave Inertial Momentum Sustainer to allow it to travel through interdiction fields and gravity wells. This allows it to escape interdiction traps. The ship has been equipped with an advanced sensor suite to allow its crew to monitor activity within any system it happens to be in.
