Private Life Carries On.

Keep moving. Don't stop. Time keeps turning. Life keeps carrying on. Even throughout the pain. Shan ached, both physically and emotionally. It was relatively simple for him to dull the physical aches but the emotional would take him longer. It's why he was going to throw himself into his work. It wasn't an entirely healthy coping mechanism. If he had his chance, he'd be in the temple, letting his emotions out through a rage room of some kind. Instead he had made his way through the ship that some of the sick and injured had been transferred to, away from Hapes. There were people that needed him to work. He couldn't afford to let himself break down now.

It was going to be plenty of manual work for him however. With where his mental state was at, using the Force to heal might not be the best of ideas. He did his best work when he was calm and at peace. Right now, his emotions were swirling. He'd need to focus on meditation which well...that's why this was perfect for him. Working on treating people's injuries, giving them the medicine they needed. It allowed him to just go into his own moving meditation. Clearing his thoughts so that he only was concerned about what was in front of him. Once he had done that, he was sure his head would be cleared enough for him to rely on the Force.

Another alternative to snap him out of his funk was for him to be surprised. Which he was quite easily, when he spotted Vera Noble Vera Noble stood outside the medical bay. Shan blinked to himself in confusion. At least, he assumed it was Vera. He could see the clear resemblance to Valery and Kahlil...and she was also tall. At least a fair bit taller than Shan. It actually caused a chuckle to escape at that thought. He missed the days when he was a Padawan, and was tall himself. But his growth spurt had happened at a young age and now everyone was slowly starting to beat him at height.

"Vera? Is that you? Long time no see. How are you doing?"

Small talk. Yes. It wasn't something Shan was good at but it would make for a good distraction. Sooner or later, he'd have to actually talk about his issues instead of avoiding them...but right now? He had to work. The Mirialan reminded himself that he wasn't avoiding his issues. He was just focusing other bigger problems right now. Plus, Vera was here. It made him feel less alone...and if she was able to help out with Healing, that would also be a good relief for him

Vera turned at the sound of her name, her multicolored eyes lighting up the moment she spotted Shan. "Shan!" she exclaimed, a bright grin spreading across her face. Without hesitation, she strode over, her energy as boundless as ever despite the tension that had followed them all from Hapes.

She stopped just in front of him, tilting her head slightly as she looked him over. "Wow, it has been a while! You look…" She trailed off for half a second, taking in the exhaustion written into his posture, the way his presence felt a little heavier than usual. Her grin softened into something more understanding, but she didn't linger on it too long — she knew that sometimes, people needed distractions before they were ready to talk.

Instead, she smirked and added, "…Shorter than I remember." There was a teasing edge to her voice, her grin returning as she playfully bumped his arm.

"But seriously, I'm doing okay. More importantly—" Vera's hands went to her hips, her expression shifting into something determined, eager. "I heard you could use some help, and lucky for you, I happen to be pretty great at that. So!" She clapped her hands together once, practically buzzing with energy. "Put me to work. What do you need?"

Even as she spoke, there was something grounding in her presence — a warmth and a quiet readiness to jump in and help however she could. She wasn't just here to lend a hand; she was here to be there for him, too.

By the Force. Shan couldn't help but grin at the boundless energy Vera seemed to have. It was a good reminder for him as well. The reason for him to kepe moving forward. The younger generation had so much energy and he wasn't that much older compared to them. He had to keep on moving. Even if he won't be at the level of energy Vera had, Shan had to focus on the more positive things.

"Yeah. I am pretty short still. Any chance you can try to look into my future and see if I grow taller?"

It was a joke. Maybe a poor one, but a joke all the same. There was no way he'd suggest using a power like that to look into his future. As much as he wished he could know what was in store for him. Well, actually he knew what was in store for him. He was going to help people alongside Vera. Clapping his hands together as slowly but surely the Mirialan was starting to get more energetic himself.

"Alright. Not sure how much training you've had in using the Force to heal, so we can start off from there. We'll need to find some people who's injuries aren't too severe and then work on healing from there."

He wasn't too concerned that there'd be many critical patients. Most of the critical people should be in a stable condition. It was nice in a way. The idea of teaching and passing his knowledge down was a good way for him to distract himself.

Vera giggled at Shan's joke, her multicolored eyes glinting with amusement. "Hmm, I could try," she teased, tilting her head dramatically as if peering into some great cosmic mystery. "But what if I see you getting even shorter? That'd be pretty tragic." Her grin widened as she gave him another playful bump on the arm.

She was fond of Shan — always had been. He had this steady presence about him, something that balanced out her own boundless energy. And despite the weariness lingering behind his eyes, she could see that spark still burning. That was enough for her to know he was still pushing forward.

When he mentioned training in healing, Vera's expression shifted from playful to eager in an instant. "Oh! Yeah, I haven't really done much healing stuff before," she admitted, rocking on her heels. "I mean, I know of it, but my training's been way more about my visions or Force runes." She flashed him a cheeky grin.

"But!" She clapped her hands together, energy practically buzzing off her. "I'm here to learn, and I promise I'll be the best student you've ever had. So, point me in the right direction, Master Shan, and I'll do my best not to set anything on fire!"

The last part was a joke — mostly. But despite her teasing, there was a genuine excitement in her voice. Vera was never one to back down from a challenge, and if healing was something she could add to her skillset, she was all in.

"If I get shorter, I get shorter. Though you know what they say. With small height comes wisdom."

That definitely wasn't what they said, but Shan couldn't help but joke. It was a good sign to him. He still had his humour no matter how bad it was. Though at Vera's sudden eagerness at learning how to heal, Shan raised an eyebrow. He wasn't used to such...energetic students. Zaiya had energy, yes but it felt contained. He planned on teaching Everest as well, and she seemed much more subdued than the both of Zaiya and Vera...But it was nice. Different types of students mean he could learn himself.

"Alright then. I'm going to want you to focus on what I'm doing then. Using the Force to heal is a delicate process. Too much Force is equally as bad as too little."

Shan gave a short nod at that, heading into the medical bay to look around for the wounded refugees. There were different ways to use the force to treat injuries and so he was trying to figure out what kind of injury he wanted to deal with. He beckoned Vera to follow him over towards the side of the medical bay, to a young man with their arm in a sling.

"Relax, I'm a healer. My friend here is going to watch me work on treating you. Soon, your arm will be good as new."

Or at least good enough to use. Shan held his hand out towards the refugee. Since he was teaching, Shan decided it would be best to use the Force normally. No fancy crystals to increase his capabilities. Instead he used the Force to hold the man's arm still, letting a warmth spread throughout the limb.

"With broken limbs, you'll want to restrain the limb gently with the Force. That way, when you encourage and accelerate the healing process, the bone will heal correctly. Try and keep an eye on how your patient is feeling as well. Mental pain is just as important as physical."

With that, the Mirialan glanced over towards the young man, sticking his thumb up alongside giving him a bright grin. This was to the extent of what Shan could hea right now with how his emotions were anyway. Broken bones and cuts. He turned his head over towards Vera, giving her a bright grin as well.

"I'm making sense right? You don't need me to go over anything?"
