- Impervious to Lightsabers: Created by two masters of their crafts, the Light of Bathia is made up almost entirely of Greel wood that has been treated both through alchemy and imbued with the force, a process which was sought to replicate the ability of metallic objects touched by alchemy so that it may stand up to the plasma blades of the Sith. The staff itself isn't meant for melee combat, so it is entirely a cosmetic addition in the eyes of the people of today, but ten thousand years ago on a primitive world where one man with a lightsaber could mean the death of hundreds, anything which could stand up to the swords that cut through most armor like butter would mean at least a minute longer of survival. The force which has been imbued into the staff for protection purposes was made permanent through the simultaneous application of alchemy.
- Peace before Strife: As the Light of Bathia was meant to be a counter to the flaring temper that the goddess, Braith, was subject to, an aura of calming emanates from the staff in order to calm the tempers of those around it - theoretically causing some issues with dark side abilities that might require violent thoughts of anger.
- New Dawn: An addition which was unknown to the alchemist, Braith, was that her companion, Raven, had imbued the staff with the purifying powers of force light - though hardly to the extent of actively using it as a master of the force. Rather, this allows whomever wields the staff to project a somewhat weak force light in the direction the staff is directed that can be used to destroy dark side spirits as well as eliminate objects of a darker nature. Alternatively, an inadvertent addition by Braith, the use of this staff would amplify the wielder's own force light if used in conjunction with it, designed specifically to rid the planet of Pax Insul of its symbolically dark deity - Braith. A byproduct of the ability to project and enhance force light is that there is a strong aura of the light side of the force dwelling within the staff itself.
Ten millennia ago civilization, or rather society, was very similar - while still very different - from today. People loved each other, people hated each other, and sometimes people really could not decide which feeling was more prevalent. In this such instance the latter-most is true, a staff which was designed by the then-closest of friends, Braith and her almost-opposite Bathia, whom was referred to by Braith as Raven due to the color of her hair at the time. Much like Braith, Bathia had been regarded as a physical incarnation of one of the handful of deities that the people of Pax Insul - at the time - worshiped. Where Braith was the personification of the night, and an omen of either destruction or prosperity - they still hadn't figured it out by the time Braith had entered her late teens, Bathia was designated as the personification of sun's rays, wife to the very light itself, and the bringer of peace. It had been thought by the elders of the many tribes, brought together after almost five decades of war by the raven-haired goddess' silver tongue, that uniting the two as young friends would bring about certain prosperity for their people as Bathia seemed to pacify the impatient, adventurous, and almost hedonistic (at times) deity of the night.
The staff itself was hardly the cause of their first meeting - and was in fact made a full three years after their initial introduction as a gift from Braith to Bathia. To say the heterochromatic woman was not hopelessly enamored with the peaceful woman of light was to be speaking lies, and in some cultures blasphemy (see what I did there?). Created as a combined effort by the two so-called deities, the 'Light of Bathia' was meant to be a method for Bathia to completely pacify the night goddess, but its purpose was perverted in ways even the dark side was incapable. Urged by the tribal elders who made her believe that their inevitable destruction would be coming at the hand of Braith, whom was regarded as an entity of destruction because of her unnatural strength - even when not augmented by the unspoken powers of the source (the force) - and tendency to create vicious storms during her fits of rage, while they hid the reasoning to rid their rival tribes of their most powerful asset in order to spread their influence on a global scale, Bathia used the surprise gift to have Braith unknowingly assist her in the weapon that would be used to engineer her downfall.
The runes which remain hardly visible along the base of the staff were intended to enhance further the calming abilities of the staff, but were twisted by Bathia to instead increase the powers of light that could be summoned by both her and (secretly) the staff itself. As Braith's weakness to light (though ultraviolet, not necessarily all light - a fact not accounted for) was well-known, the idea was to destroy the woman in person with the force. In reality it succeeded in vastly weakening the then-darkside aligned deity and allowed the rival elders to push her back into the oubliette which became her tomb - though not before the Maw of Midnight was thrown through the heart of the very woman that had betrayed her. The staff remained preserved for the following centuries until the memory of the event was blurred by time and word of mouth, simply becoming a symbolic religious object to worship the goddess of peace while remaining interred in the very crypt that Braith remained entombed, a crypt which only each successive elder may enter. The tradition of keeping it placed over the oubliette remained until the sudden disappearance of the entire population of Pax Insul in circa five thousand years before the battle of Yavin, in which the staff itself was lost to time somewhere within or near the tomb.
