The lightsaber-bayonet, originally designed by Lorian Arrlandi on Naboo, SIA agent for the [CLASSIFIED DATA] was made for the guards of the Royal family on Naboo, mixing efficient cutters and combat accuracy. When Lorian immigrated to Coruscant, he took the design with him as he entered the SIA. Few months after that, the GADF were interested by the design, finally creating it for their soldiers and anyone able to buy the design, because of course, the GADF wasn't ready to give the components with it.
The lightsaber-bayonet is, as said, an efficient weapon in melee combat and stealth missions. It could also be abused by cutting through enemy shields, if you had the guts to take it in a space battle, or a battle with tanks!

- Modularity: Yes, two components could be swapped for this lightsaber bayonet, it is the crystal, which can be a Kohlen Crystal mined from Pijal's moon. Or the force field around the lightsaber-bayonet, making the blade smaller or bigger for the units & Defence Forces soldiers preferences. And no, it isn't quite easy to acquire a Kohlen Crystal, nor to change the force field. And if you're trying to get fancy, you could theorically use a Kyber crystal.
