• Bifurcating Ignition Pulse: While not often used, Gil Horn's lightsaber is capable of being activated and operating underwater.
• Mestare Crystal: The lightsaber crystals used in the saberstaff originate from Mestare, and give the weapon limited resistance to cortosis's disruptive effects.

• Cortosis: While the Mestare crystals in the saberstaff offer some resistance to cortosis, extended contact will destabilize the crystals to the point of shattering.

Following the destruction of his original lightsaber during a mission to Adras, Gil set about the construction of a new weapon. Originally intended to only be a single bladed lightsaber, Gil found the lightsaber crystal of his former Jedi Master, Ohognh, and instead decided he would craft a saberstaff. Taking inspiration from other members of the Jedi across the galaxy, Gil put in a few features meant to enhance and extend the combat efficiency of the weapon, and allow him to operate in a number of different environments.
