Strengths:
  • Stealth Capabilities - It has a relatively low-sensor profile (which still can be detected) that is designed to use silent running techniques.
  • Speed - More designed to escape conflict, the Lightstealth has the means to evade weapons fire and leave combat if found out
Weaknesses:
  • Armaments - For a military-grade ship, it has extremely low weaponry
  • Defenses - For a military-grade shuttle, it has reduced defenses

The original Lightstealth was a secret project developed for the Galactic Empire, for more seedier operations. The new Lightstealth takes those original designs for the common galaxy, which can still be widely used by many parties for multiple reasons. A silent-running, low profile ship with the capability of hiding itself and its scans, the Lightstealth β is designed for covert missions. For scouting and surveying, however if necessary, it can drop off troops for situations like stealthed missions. Other than its stealth capabilities, and running speed, it has nothing special to it, aside from the dagger-like shape most commonly seen with Star Destroyers.

Production: Minor

From the Starship Rules section:

  1. Particularly rare or powerful special features may necessitate using a lower production (for example, cloaking technology, gemcutters, crystal gravtraps, equivalent stealth or anti stealth technologies, or rare canon technologies and their equivalents will only be permitted at Semi Unique production)
The inclusion of the crystal gravfield traps will mean that this will to be semi-unique production.

Stealth Capabilities - The Lightstealth has the ability to hide in plainsight, however not to be confused with a cloak. This is not an impenetrable stealth system, and does not allow literally passing by viewports unseen.
I'm guessing that this is pretty much based on its canonical ability. Because of that, I would mention that its stealth capabilities are highly dependent on "silent running" techniques (powering down most systems, using inertia to move through the void, etc).

Alright, so I'm not trying to go for invisibility, as seen here.

I was just going off canon for the ship, but I'm going for less "stealth/invisibility" and more for sensor jamming "stealth capabilities." I forget who said it but I swore there was a quote somewhere said jammers aren't stealth they are information blocking/warfare, something, I can't remember haha.

What I'm saying is, what are other things I can use to keep from being detected directly, but not be so overpowered I need to drop to Unique? I want to stay at Minor, please.

I'm not experienced in the stealth area

I realize this. Generic sensor jammers make a bunch of sensor noise that that obscures a general area from being observed by sensors. It's kind of like using a cloud of smoke to hide. Everyone can blatantly see the cloud of smoke and think it's suspicious, but they can't see what it's inside of it right away. Because everyone can blatantly see it, it's almost like anti-stealth in terms of detection. So that's not the issue here.

I have no issues with this having sensor jammers and/or using silent running techniques to provide for this ship's "stealth" at minor production. I would argue that they are far less effective than most comprehesive stealth technologies such as cloaking devices.

The issue is with the CGT (Crystal Gravfield Trap). It's explicitly listed in the Starship Forum rules section as being limited to semi-unique ships and above. THat's our limiting factor right now. So we have two options:

1) Keep CGT, move production to "semi-unique"
2) Remove CGT, keep production at "minor"

[member="Kuat Drive Yards"], I can depending on how stealthy you want this ship to be. Bear in mind though, the more stealth features it has, the lower the production must be. If we're close to the canonical description of the ship in terms of stealth, this would probably be back to semi-unique production.

There's not much more we could potentially add to the ship's stealth without it going past minor production. Minor production is typically extremely limited stealth. This could maybe have a sensor decoy or some sort of frame design that has a low, long-range sensor profile (but not invisible).

CGT was removed, I found a bunch of devices - please do comment on them, I tried to get a well-rounded assortment to cover all the sensor bases. I am willing to reduce speed to Average. What can we do?

Sensor Jamming Devices - 220-SIG, Screamer, DERP, Baffler, BlindSide

I think the link for the "Screamer" is broken, though I imagine that you meant this?

The DERP and baffler fall back more heavily into the stealth area than in the sensor jamming area. I think that the inclusion of these two devices would push it into the limited production category.

This sounds a little confusing to me. I'd probably reword it to match the description (both canon and here in the sub) and reference that it has a relatively low-sensor profile (which still can be detected) that is designed to use silent running techniques.
