SPECIAL FEATURES
- LIKON durability: LIKON values toughness and durability, reflected in redundant systems, additional structural bracing, fusion welded plating, and magna bolted seals. LIKON products are typically known to be able to take hits and keep on functioning.
- LIKON universality: LIKON specifically designs its systems with a minimum of moving parts, and with as much universal access as possible to allow for a seamless and pain-free maintenance cycle. It is exceptionally easy to repair and maintain this vehicle.
- (+) Drill, baby, drill: With a superheated turadium plasma drill, multiple beamdrills emitters, and dual heavy turreted heavy mining lasers, the LST-MT can effectively chew through the soil at speed, and is capable of chewing through most ore deposits quite easily.
- (+) Magma armor: With an Impervium coated duravlex hull, combined with structural bracing and heat shielding, the LST-MT can withstand intense pressures, molten magma, and crushing stone and earth. It is thus extremely well shielded against thermal and kinetic energy.
- (-) Chug along: the ST-MT is ultimately average in speed, having a top speed of only 60/kph. This is exacerbated when it is not surrounded by earth - the LST-MT relies on the treads on each side of its hull to grip the tunnels it digs and propel it forward in conjunction with repulsors. As such, when traveling along the surface, the LST-MT has a dismal speed of 20/kph.
- (-) Straight line travel: the LST-MT is designed for tunneling in straight lines, and must turn gradually over multiple meters to change directions.
- (-) Lightly armed: a fearsome foe for any mineral or ore deposit, the LST-MT is nonetheless lightly armed. Its double heavy mining laser turrets are deadly at close range, but no substitute for actual laser cannons, drastically decreasing in power at medium and long range.
The LIKON Ltd. Subterranean Mining Transport, or "LST-MT", is LIKON's first foray into mining technology outside of Nova Crystal mining.
Based on groundborer technology, the LST-MT is a thirty meter long airtight vessel with treads mounted on each side, and tipped with a turadium plasma drill - that is, a physical drill that is superheated to extreme temperatures in order to pierce the earth. Aided by multiple beamdrills emitters and dual heavy turreted heavy mining lasers, the LST-MT is capable of boring through even the most dense deposits of ore, minerals, and metals.
The fuselage itself is composed of an interior bridge filled with mining scanners and holographic displays (there is no need to physically look outside, after all, though there is a single shielded photoreceptor for outside verification). This is followed by a deployment bay capable of holding 40 humanoids, or 100 collapsed mining droids on deployment racks. A secondary bay is capable of holding up to 100 tons of ore.
Powering the LST-MT is a twin compact fusion drive system, which powers the LST-MT's drill array, primary drive train, heat shielding systems, life support, and cooling unit.
