SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Light Walker made for a scout support role. This walker utilizes speed, agility and the ability to cover large amounts of distance to perform its role effectively in battle. The incorporation of a Wind Talker Class Communications Array and various spotting/tagging equipment allow for this walker to perform the role of a scout, forward observer, or other recon and light support roles. But it's main feature is its speed, being able to not only outrun most tanks, but also keep pace with most land speeders and air speeders as well.
  • Primary Weapons include a pair of Deimos Laser Cannons intended as a deterrent should the walker be discovered enroute to wherever it's going, or mid mission on recon duty. This allow it to reasonably fight some light and medium armor, however it'll be hard pressed against heavier armor, due to the weapons being underpowered on this platform due to size and weight restrictions.
  • Secondary weapons include a pair of Light Repeating Blaster Cannons, more akin to E-Webs, and a flame projector to give this walker some punch against infantry targets. This allows for the walker to also act and work as an anti-infantry platform, however it is strongly suggested to do so by putting these walkers in groups and allowing them to use their superior speed and maneuverability to outflank the enemy first. Charging head first with armor that it is comparatively light to most enemy medium and heavy armor rarely ends well. Also flamethrowers because the enemy infantry can't exactly shoot back if they're on fire.
  • Eagle Eye Fire Control System ties all of the weapon systems together, providing two separate reticules for the different fire control groups. The main reticule in the center of the HUD is for the Deimos Laser Cannons and Flame Projector, while a secondary outer reticule is for the light repeating blaster cannons. The blaster cannons can traverse from down 45 degrees from parallel, to up 65 degrees above parallel. The torso twist for the walker is also improved over other models, being able to traverse the torso 120 degrees to either side off of centerline, however be warned that the pilot is also in the torso meaning that this for many new pilots is a bit disorienting.
  • Isotope-5A Reactor provides significant power generation able to power all of the various systems aboard this machine, from the various servos, CMAS, other locomotion necessary systems, and main weapons aboard the walker. This Isotope-5A Reactor allows for the vehicle to run all of these systems at optimal capacity allowing for the walker to perform its intended function at peak efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Brand new Eagle Class Medium Armor provides new gold standard for armor protection, alongside protective laminates both on the armor and below the armor. This allows the walker to operate in most environments and offers reliable protection. This has been applied to the walker as necessary to give it good protection against most man portable weapons, however anti-vehicle, anti-tank, and heavy weapons are still quite effective.
  • Mounted gyroscope and internal droid brain manages most of the lesser tasks of keeping the walker upright, alongside with it being able to take rounds from heavy vehicle mounted weapons and keep upright. Also allows for traversal of rough terrain without too many adjustments from the pilot.
  • Wind Talker Class Communications array allows for each individual walker to be able to communicate and relay information. Information on their own personal position and status from rounds remaining, armor, and systems active to targets engaged, target's status and surrounding environmental conditions contributing to the engagement. This allows for the Pilot to be able to coordinate and relay information to all nearby units, enabling wolf pack tactics and coordinated assaults at the lance level.
STRENGTHS
  • Excellent combat scout platform: This walker is fast, lightly armed, and able to move pretty quick thanks to its small size and therefore light weight compared to most combat walker platforms. Being only a few meters taller than an AT-RT, this walker uses it's great power to weight ratio to great effect, making it a fast and effective platform to get where you need to go quickly. Add into this a built in communications system that is not only encrypted but has multiple methods of transmitting data, and a sensor suite capable of gathering as much data as possible and you've got a walker that's perfect as a cavalry scout, a forward observer, or just a general recon walker that's quite effective. And being that it's armed, it can defend itself should the need arise, but take it from me, this thing runs from most heavier problems way better than it fights.
  • It's a walker: This walker has been designed to operate like most do, anytime, anywhere, and capable handling most if not any environment. With a sealed cockpit, most pilots for the vehicle have likened it to flying a starfighter that is stuck so many meters above the ground rather than traditional walker behavior. And while it doesn't bring the biggest punch to the fight, not rain, nor mud, nor sleet, nor snow will stop this baby. And ho boy does she go fast.
  • Flamethrowers: If you give a man fire, he'll be warm for a while. If you set him on fire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life. Great at clearing brush, ice and pesky dismounts if you're feeling that itch.
WEAKNESSES
  • Highly Specialized: This walker doesn't flex over well to other roles that don't fit the modus operandi of the walker. It can't pick fights with something way bigger than itself head on, it can't shoot at long ranges with heavy firepower, nor can it carry several platoons of yahoos (living or not), nor even serve as effective light armor such as a fighting vehicle or such. This is a pure scout, or something that is meant to surprise the heck out of someone before booking it out of there like a space cheetah on space cocaine. Can it spot, direct fires, and otherwise relay information back to the rear? Sure it can, but if it gets caught by something bigger than itself or has more punching power than a kazoo then it probably shouldn't attack it without some serious planning.
  • Hey how about you GET US OUT OF HERE!?!?!?!: This walker while being much faster than something akin to an AT-ST, is also much less well armed. This means that when it comes to most combat scenarios, barring it running into a light infantry platoon with no AT weapons, it's preferable option to when it encounters trouble is to run away from it. If you try to have this thing stand and fight, it will lose.
  • Flamethrowers: Not very subtle. Highly situational. I mean it looks cool right?
DESCRIPTION
Another generation in the developments of walker technology in the Surric System, the Sidewinder was designed to fit the need of light scouts and cavalry units. This design opted for speed and maneuverability in the extremes in favor of armor, weapons, and the ability to carry a payload. As such it was designed to be an excellent spotter, frontline scout, and otherwise extra light skirmisher in favorable terrains. Its best strengths are the ability to move fast, and stay much lower profile than most other combat platforms as it's shorter than an AT-ST. While this model is much more difficult to pilot as even the co-pilot seat was sacrificed to save space and more importantly weight, it still handles like a dream in good hands. This makes the walker much more difficult to handle as all tasks that were normally split between two sapient personnel are now solely handled by a single one. This puts increased strain on the pilots who ride these walkers into battle, but also allows for them to be a bit more responsive and creative as instead of two sitting in the potential driver's seat, a single pilot can see the situation, develop a quick response and then act. This is a bit more for what these walkers are meant for to begin with, as with their high speeds of maneuver and thin armor plating, its quick thinking and even faster responses that save the lives of the pilots. While this makes them more dangerous to be in than effective for most combat situations, this makes this walker a perfect setup for a scout or anti-personnel skirmisher. And with a communications, sensor package, and lower profile to pull it off you can't beat the ability of this walker as a mechanized scout.

Fun Fact, I know literally the name Locust is the actual name for it in BattleTech. Designation is generally LCT-1V or LCT-3V, most common. We do not talk about LCT-1M...We don't.

We both know this is a mech in the Battletech/Mechwarrior universe with this being actually an image from the Mech Warrior Online game. The Locust is basically the most regarded Light Mech of the whole series and for good reason. It is a pain in the rear and it looks great.

So what is my verdict if this thing passes the Mech Test? Honestly, this one does and keeps the same flavor as an AT-ST at the right height. Yes, you are fast and annoying but that is literally what this battlemech was known for. Being fast, being annoying. A good conversion at that.

So with full confidence...

APPROVED!

The Monster The Monster Avoid copying names for vehicles from other franchises that look similar to the image chosen for use in your submission in general. As Listib Hibin Listib Hibin pointed out, it doesn't matter if it doesn't conflict with one source, it has to not conflict with any source. If you weren't aware, just change it, however if you were, I'd caution against trying to use a judge or RPJ's potential lack of familiarity with a fandom to pass something through. It hasn't worked in the past, and I doubt it'll work now.
