DETAILED DEVELOPMENT NOTES AND TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

SECTION 1: Initial Request and Conception
Even in its infancy, one could see that this request had potential to become something that pushed the boundaries of what was previously considered possible when modifying a human body. Humans are, in essence a fragile species. They are short-lived and their bodies are exceptionally delicate when compared to other species of sentient life in the galaxy. However, humans who have the potential to become Jedi seem to break that rule. Whatever the Force is, how it interacts with their body in every unique instance, it allows them to push themselves and act far beyond what their biological limitations should have dictated. The collective surprise, when we were approached by a Jedi seeking our technological expertise to assist him.
The client was almost impossibly old, 133 years at the time he came to us. He looked no older than thirty. He said that his longevity and youthful appearance were a byproduct of his connection to the Force. He said it had granted him unnaturally long life and the ability to ward off some of the physical effects of living in an aging physical body. However, the client, more than any other Jedi I have ever examined, seemed aware that the abilities of the Force were not infallible. He was still old. His body, though in better shape than it had any right to be, was still suffering the effects of a lifetime of combat and rigorous physical exertion.
Amid his religious mumbling that 'the Force still had a purpose for him', the client had a very distinct request. He wanted to be able to see through whatever it was he felt that he had been given life to achieve and not allow the physical effects of age get in his way. From that, and because of his extraordinary constitution, we were able to conceive of an integrated system of modifications and enhancements unlike anything previously created or conceived of.
SECTION 2: Basic Systems (as requested)
Of all the client's organic structures, his bones were the most severely damaged. Though his body had done a truly exceptional job of repairing the majority of damage over the years, he still had numerous unhealed or partly healed micro-fractures (caused by of over a century of constant action) riddled his skeletal structure. In addition to pain and weakness, we could tell from his descriptions that his damaged skeletal structure contributed to the reduction in movement capability. This presented us with a significant challenge. To replace his entire skeleton would be fatal. However, even in keeping with his insistence that we do not remove organic material in excess of what was absolutely necessary, we were able to come up with elegant solutions.
Using a duraniam alloy we replaced 75% of all bone mass, and added an ultra-fine alloy mesh over the remaining organic bone that contained the marrow required to sustain life function. This reinforced the body's core strength as well as provided him the stability that he desired, while allowing the body to survive additional stress. From there we tackled the issue of his muscles. A network created of durable biofibers were overlayed and interwoven with his existing muscles. During times of physical exertion the biofibers would act to support the muscles, expanding and contracting with the organic tissue to not only significantly increase the client's strength but also reinforcing his entire body against effects such as unwanted organ displacement under significant blunt-force or crushing trauma. Significant engineering was applied to the creation of the alloys and biofibers used in the process so that little, if any net weight gain would be noticed by the client.
Section 3: Additional Systems
During the course of our development process and the actual implementation, we were unable to ignore the fact that we were working with an exceptional specimen. The opportunities for studies to improve general implant systems from implementing further technologies could not be overlooked. In the interests of furthering beneficial medical technologies, advancing biologically integrated weapons technologies, we seized the opportunity to use him as an experimental entity and went forth with altering his body as much as we could without ignoring his request that we keep as much organic material as possible. Though it would have been easier to substitute organic structures for artificial ones, some marginal sense of ethics born out of fear of a truly annoyed Jedi Master kept us operating under his primary guideline.
We introduced to his system a highly invasive Universal-D package along side his natural nervous system. The series of implants that together created the Universal-D package served to increase the functions of neural and organic tissues, paying specific attention to their applications regarding all muscle tissue. All the usual effects of a Universal-D -- clearer thinking, faster response time, an improved total structure that is stronger and less prone to fatigue -- when combined with the primary stage of the modifications would allow the client to achieve even higher levels of mental and physical conditioning. It was realized during the actual implementation on the live subject, that the possibility of taking such a design to market in a mass produced version would be nearly impossible.
Due to his unique and remarkable constitution we were able to add further modifications to the Universal-D package. A series of adrenal amplifiers were added to the Uni-D, designed to activate during times of extreme exertion or stress. Though the amplifiers inject a synthetic substance, its effects are for all intents and purposes, identical to the natural substance operating in the subject's body naturally....and carry the same risks; cardiac arrest being the most notable among other things. To combat the risks of extreme adrenal exertion as well as any unforeseen negative effects from the other systems we created what amounted to a secondary vascular system (though uniform in size) that would perfuse the body with bacta. However, to reduce the risk of developing a bacta resistance, the system only operates when activated by conscious thought through the Uni-D system or when internal sensors judge life function to be in danger. Even then, the system can only be active for a short amount of time before requiring time to reperfuse the network; though we judge the active time sufficient (given the direct and deep nature of the perfusion) to repair internal damage to a minimum 'safe point'.
Section 4: Final Enhancements
Though we were aware that we were reaching the limits of what we could do to an organic body before turning it into something inorganic, there were two final technologies that we wished to apply. The fist was to introduce a series of artificial eyelids, giving the subject enhanced range of vision ranging into infrared, thermal, zoom and extreme low-light capabilities. Controlled by the microprocessor implanted in the base of the subject's brain, like other system functions requiring direct control, the eyelids can be operated and selected by the electrical signals generated by the thought process in the brain.
The final technology rounded out the entire project, though it was by far the most gruesome in execution. The previous operations had given us insight into what parts of the brain were required to be active for the subject to draw on the Force to sustain himself and enhance his body's healing capabilities and without that understanding we would not have been able to execute the final enhancement. By placing the subject into a drug-induced coma that operated on his conscious mind, keeping him unaware, we were able to allow his sub conscious to be fully active; a part of his mind that we had come to realize executed whatever it was Jedi did when they called on the Force. We had noticed even while he was under anesthesia. With that part of his mind fully alert we entered into the final operation.
All of the subject's dermis was removed temporarily. With the dermis removed we were able to encase the subject's entire body in a very fine later of polarized diatium-biofiber mesh. The dermis was then reattached with an organic bonding agent that dissolved the diatium infused bio-fibers, causing them to become fully absorbed by the subject's deepest dermis layer. Though an unconventional use of the substance, when applied to biofiber technology it created a passive conductive network that, when activated by the universal-d processor could create a field strong enough to interfere with energy weapons such as blasters and lightsabers. It is an imperfect system, though it was integrated without harmful effect to the subject. It can only offer moderate sustained protection and is limited by the fact that the subject still retains his natural skin. Effective against one or two shots or blows from an energy weapon, repeated contact or hits will cause the system to fail and offer no protection until it is recharged.
Final Notes:

Though the subject was horrified by the betrayal of his worthless morals and ethics, we have deemed the system a total success; though unlikely to be reproduced in its entirety. We regard it as the greatest success of L.O.G.I.C. Inc. and though it is regrettable that the client was ultametly displeased with what we have given him--displeased in the sense that I consider all of us lucky that the subject holds himself so highly to the much-strained sense of Jedi decency--we have acheived scientific perfection within the confines of our situation. The benefits we have gained from the development, implementation and observation of the system will echo down through medical and military technologies for years to come.

Ok. Don't think that I've forgotten about you.
I've read the sub and I like it. I think it's an impressive concept and the writing style you went with really feels like a debriefing document. So that's very neat. One of the first things I'm going to need from you though is a simple list of each upgrade ("Metal Bones, Enhanced Muscles, Bacta Pumping Heart, Lightsaber resistant skin, exc"). Then I need you to take that list and write a specific strength and weakness to each upgrade on that list.

In the meantime, I'll be consulting with some other Factory and (maybe) Codex Judges about this submission. Because, this is a fairly intensive overhaul for a character and I want to make sure that the submission that we end with is fair for those who have to write against it, and has an appropriate amount of work to justift the benefits.

While I understand what you're after by breaking it down into separate sections, I think I may not have correctly conveyed the relative power of some of the effects, based on what you listed; most notably in regards to "lightsaber resistant skin". For the sake of clarification, the modifications offer neither immunity nor true resistance to energy weapons. It's more along the lines of "catch a stray blaster bolt and it's whatever" vs. "charge into blaster bolts and its whatever". Same for lightsabers, the intent was to be able to turn a blow, not be directly able to block or sustain repeated attacks.

As for the bacta pumping heart, I'd have no problem editing the conditions around that to be something like "requiring extra concentration to trigger at will, making use in combat an impossibility" or "trigger when heart rate returns to standard resting rate." TBH, I thought having it in combat would be pushing it a bit far, but I wanted to see if it was possible. The main point behind the bacta system is to make sure he doesn't die immediately after a fight due to stressed organs and muscles.

In regards to the rest, I'm more than willing to write a set of strengths and weaknesses for the submission as a whole, however, breaking it down into each individual component removes some of the elegance of the concept. The whole thing relies on the fact that alone each system is fairly standard and it's the way they've been built to function together that makes it formidable.

As for the work involved: I spoke to [member="Coryth Elaris"] regarding the submission prior to posting and we'd worked out some framework of RP surrounding it. I hold no illusions that something like this could happen without extensive RP surrounding it and, honestly, I look forward to RPing it out, so there's no issue there.

I can understand and respect that, but I'm going to have to insist on the individual strengths and weaknesses being worked into the submission. I'm all for eligance, but I need to ensure that this submission is easy to understand for all readers and that the capabilities and limitations that go along with this submission are clearly listed and easy to read.
