HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Loki was born into the ownership of arena masters on Dantooine and was destined to be a gladiatorial slave, probably until killed.
While investigating sith activity, Hei felt a connection and a sympathy with the beast. Hei had to dispatch the two dark acolytes on the planet, and by luck or by will of the force, the arena master also wanted them dead. Hei did not admit that he was already there to destroy the Sith, but agreed to kill them for the arena master in exchange for the life of the young rancor-dragon.
Hei completed his mission and the master was good to his word. The two new companions left Dantooine and Hei began to train Loki. Years later, the creature is now half grown and is Hei's most trusted companion.
