Private Long Road Ahead

Zanvic stood at a soldier's attention staring at the rising sun of Jakku. In his time stationed in this planet, all he did was patrol the surrounding area and watch for anything suspicious. It was pretty much the most boring job in the Galaxy for a soldier. Tedious inspections, endless drills and the only thing dangerous were the occasional Womp Rat or if Zanvic was lucky a bandit. When Zanvic was issued a new order to help rehab a Jedi he was almost happy to do so. It was a great way to break the monotony that he was experiencing. He did send the Jedi a message to come early because they needed to get as much done as possible. As what he heard, the Jedi couldn't walk.

Zanvic continued to look at the sunrise a small smile crept on his face. Finally a job where he can feel useful.

Katarine had been held in quarantine and tested so many times by the enclave doctor she thought she might soon go crazy. Apparently there had been some virus that had pretty much destroyed the galaxy and there was concern that Kat might have been carrying it. Eventually the healer seemed satisfied the ancient woman did not have this virus and finally released Kat from being confined to the small hospital room.

Just being free of that tiny room made her feel like dancing the conga, but of course she couldn’t. For one that dance was probably so old nobody even knew it these days and she would look super foolish. For another thing she couldn’t physical move her legs at all. The doctors thought this might be related to how long she had been in cyro sleep. It was natural her muscles may have weakened but they couldn’t be certain if she would ever walk again. Her case was unique but all her scans showed her nervous system was not damaged. The plan was to start a rehab program and see if it did any good.

She hovered in her wheel chair towards the assigned meeting spot. The chair itself was pretty neat. It hovered completely and almost seemed like a mini speeder to the woman. It was pretty fancy tech for someone used to the marvels of the clone wars era.

“At ease soldier. Thank you for agreeing to help today. I think at this point the medical staff is sick of me.” She smirked, knowing there was more truth in that than humor.

“My name is Katarine Ryiah. Do you have a name?”

She frowned, realizing this might sound rude.

“Forgive me. The last soldiers I worked with were clones during the clone wars. They did not have names, only numbers. I’m not sure if the galaxy still uses clones?”

Well good, she had come off as an old racist granny within the first minute of the encounter. She may as well shake her fist and yell about the kids on her lawn at this rate!
