An emphasis on damage over time.
No ammunition, relies on power from parent ship.
Utilizes Sianium (Siaber Crystal) power converters to increase recharge/reload times.
Damage over time at maximum charge equals to three long range turbolaser batteries.
Damage over time at minimum charge equals to one long range turbolaser battery.
Initial impact at maximum charge equals to one and a half long range turbolaser battery.
Initial impact at minimum charge equals to three long range turbolasers.
Accuracy increased with new automated target-lock function.
Overcharge capable, at the risk of blowback.
Heuristic data processing enables crews to track weapon efficiency.
Automated internal temperature check.
Targeting and tracking sensors allows the Shortbow to track its own targets.
Trilamnium overlay provides a higher resistance to turbolaser weaponry.
Damage over time duration is estimated to be ten to fifteen seconds.
Range: Most effective at battlefield range, effective at long range but will lose effectiveness at shorter ranges.
Damage: Does damage over time, most effective at maximum charge - energy will fizzle out.
Unshielded: May be quite devastating to unshielded targets nevermind the damage over time.
Overlay: Has a higher resistance to turbolasers / blasters / plasma type weaponry.
Charge: Requires a long recharge between shots for maximum efficiency.
Range: Loses effectiveness the shorter the range.
Size: Unable to track and target small corvettes and attack craft.
Crystal: With siaber crystal power converters is subject to overheating/breaking of crystals which can cause a fatal blowback.
Overheat: Can overheat during discharge/recharge causing a fatal pushback within the tibanna tubes.
Blowback: Due to overheating, and/or power converter failures may lead to catastrophic results.
Installation: Cannot be installed on ships under 1800m
As part of the modernization efforts the Longbow received a very similar facelift to that of the Shortbow. Resulting in improved damage output and overall recharge/reload speeds. The Longbow is still subject to a lot of its first generation flaws. Such as the long recharge time between shots even if shaved off by thirty seconds, must be allowed to recharge this can take up to sixty seconds and is advised to wait longer to give the weapon time to cooldown. Range is still a factor and while the Longbow is able to most effectively shot at battlefield distance and perhaps even at long range as necessary but loses effectiveness at standard and short range.
Meant to target large capital ships, the Longbow is unable to track and target smaller corvettes under a hundred meters - perhaps even under one hundred and fifty. Most definitely - the Longbow is unable to hit the smaller attack craft. It is also now subject to sianium (siaber) power converters failures with regards to the crystal that powers it. Overheating and fatal blowbacks are also flaws that the second generation plasma railgun has carried over from the first.
Ultimately however the Longbow hits harder and a little bit faster than she did previously.
This railgun cannot be installed on ships under 1800m.
