Technically you don't need a master in order to train and advance up to a Sith Lord on Chaos. There is a shortage of Lords and Knights who enjoy RPing a master/apprentice relationship, and this extends to the Jedi side as well. However, that doesn't mean you can't get training and have an enjoyable time doing it.
I cannot vouch for the other darksided factions as I have not had experience with them, but the One Sith offers group training, some one-on-one training and RP in an academy setting, which will allow you to get to know some of the Sith knights and lords and increase your chances of being picked up by one of them as an apprentice.
