Character
So, once again, I am asking for your help putting together a group of people to write ship-based stories. It's still with the Rimward Rescue Service, but changed the ship slightly to the Endurance. Bigger ship, more people, more variety, and more drama! The goal is to create a tight-knit, overarching story focused primarily on interpersonal relationships, exploring the Outer Rim, and the awe and wonder of living aboard a starship in a vast and crazy galaxy. (Okay, so fine, there's loads of influence in this from Star Trek. I admit it. Embrace it and make it fun.)
Lots of roles are open, lots of possibilities, and definitely still would love to have the people from the previous round as well. Some possible positions include Science Officer, Chief Engineer, Rescue Officer, Technicians of all sorts, Boarding & Security team members, culinary specialists, Intercultural Specialists, etc. It's not a giant ship, but it has plenty of space for all sorts of things.
Thematically, the storyline would be likely considered 'Nobledark' given the current state of the Chaos galaxy. The Rescue Service is inspired by Starfleet (Naturally) and the ideas of the Coast Guard in the US. The Outer Rim is dangerous, especially around the Kathol Rift and the edges of the galaxy, but the Rescue Service is pitched deliberately at the best, brightest, and the optimists in the Rim who fervently want to make the region of the galaxy safer. Competent, professional, driven. Some come from the spaceborne elites of the Rim, but plenty of others are former smugglers, privateers, and freedom fighters setting aside their previous way of life to build a future where they won't be needed any longer and their children and grandchildren can have prosperous, happy lives. It also emphasizes communal responsibility for the collective well-being, with the Service ranging far across the Outer Rim to perform Search & Rescue patrols, maintain beacons, and ensure that even non-League systems can benefit from their developments.
This often puts them on tricky ground, far outside their home territory and their official jurisdiction, pushing them to rely on their own diplomatic skills and willingness to adapt to work on behalf of local governments without overriding local authority. And they're not a military force either, so they're definitely outgunned by most ships of an equivalent class, meaning fighting can happen, but it's not a fun time like an ISD or battlecruiser could be.
