Looking for work

John sat in his booth, listening to conversations through the cantina. Corellia did have some good ale. But that wasn't what he was here for. He searched the conversations, looking for someone in need of a smuggler. The last job had paid well, but he still needed money. John took a drink of his beer, beginning to think of his opening approach.

Three mechanics sat drinking lum at a corner table, all of them smeared with hyperdrive coolant and engine grease. One was a scarred orange Krevaaki; the second was a striped green Twi'lek; and the third was a young-looking human with faded low-grade Corellian bloodstripes on his pants.

Their conversation hinged on finding new personnel, both to help handle an influx of customers and to help with an expedition. It seemed that a couple of dangerous new routes had been found out past the Kathol Outback. Clear out Sith cultists and other hazards, and you might be able to get to the phrik mines on Demonsgate in weeks rather than the better part of a year.

Corellia had seen its share of massive, unexplainable disasters in recent years, but an equally massive reconstruction effort had left the planet a good place to find hardscrabble crews and the occasional drink.

Ra herself was a freelance worker. Was good with ships, at least in repairing them and great with people. She recently learned she could use the Force, but still relied on more mundane living to get by day to day. Having used up much of her money, she still had some left. More than it took to get a good meal and a few nights at an inn, but nothing to live on for long.

She walked into the cantina on Corellia, looked around for a table or booth with the hopes of making a business connection here. Of course, this was new territory for her and she didn't know anybody. Seeing a booth open between [member="John Elemeti"] and [member="Jorus Merrill"] and his group of people, she took a seat there.

Motioning to a server droid, Ra took a look at the menu offered, ordered a drink and some Corellian Stew for herself. She listened in on the conversation going on behind her as she looked around the room.

Only one conversation he heard that he could potentially turn into a job. John took one final drink before standing up. Silently he passed by @Ra'a'mah and to the booth of those he targeted."hello gentlemen. I heard you needed personnel to join you in an expedition?" He said, kicking off his joining of the conversation.

Under layers of engine coolant and denim, the Twi'lek turned out to be female. She glowered somewhat and chugged back her lum. The young human and the Krevaaki snickered. If you've never heard a Krevaaki snickering, think bubbles.

"That we are," said the human. "I'm Jorus Merrill, captain of the Wretched Hive. We're sort of a mobile chop shop and exploration boat. This is Dingo Darr, my chief engineer, and the lady is Senior Tech Shenna'vala. We're looking for folks who don't mind operating weeks away from the nearest safe port, folks who can handle themselves in a fight and pitch in when work needs doing. What're you good at, bud? What's your qualifications?"

(Yeah the @ and my name doesn't tag for some reason so I just check the topics daily I'm in to see if I can reply. Ugh sorry the post is so short.)

Her drink arriving, Ra watches as [member="John Elemeti"] leaves his table and approach [member="Jorus Merrill"] and join in on that group's conversation. She listens in and narrows her eyes slightly at what she hears. Turning to face the crew, she breaks her silence.

"In other words, your pirates or scavengers."

James sat in some dingy cantina in Corellia, sipping a glass of juma juice. He was relaxing after a hard case won. So what if the defendant actually did murder someone who witnessed him offing his girlfriend? His daddy was loaded and knew how to spend those credits in all the right places. All he needed was a savvy lawyer who didn't mind handling a dirty case...

To his right, there were some greasy scavengers making a lot of noise. Goodness, he could smell them from where he sat. Xerox took another sip of the juma in his hand and relaxed, loosening the already loose red tie around his neck. With his rolled up sleeves, dress slacks, and shiny shoes, he stood out amongst the more seedy patrons of the establishment. A target? Not necessarily. But he did stand out.

"Kark off," said Jorus amiably to the pale-haired girl who'd interrupted. "We're legit salvagers, ship modders, and contract explorers, not always in that order. We've shanked our share of pirates and looters. You want in? We can always use an extra pair of hands, long as they know how to do their share of the work."

He took a look around the room. More than one face was turned their way; he shrugged and stood up, raising his voice.

"Hi, folks, since you're all listenin' already. I'm Captain Jorus Merrill of the Wretched Hive. I mod ships, do salvage, mine asteroids, carve out hyperlanes, and discover planets. My wife and I built the Mara Corridor -- maybe some of you have flown down it between Tion and Ryloth. Yeah, I look young; don't let it fool you. Long story. Yeah, I fight for the Underground sometimes, but I don't get my crew caught up in that. Now that's me being as blunt as can be. You want to sign on with me, talk to me or my chief engineer here."

Darr waved one orange claw to the room, then entered into conversation with a handful of spacers. Jorus sat back down.

Ra takes a drink before standing and joining the party at the other table. The smell of a well oiled working crew surrounds them and she nods.

"What do you have planned, nerf-hearder?"

She says in the same amiable tone to [member="Jorus Merrill"]. Gazing around at the new view of people Ra notices [member="James Xerox"] sitting nearby paying VERY close attention to them. Adjusting her place at the table, she motions for [member="Jorus Merrill"] to join since he was already standing there.

"No need to draw more attention than this group already has."

Rolling her eyes when Jorus stands up and makes his own announcement about recruiting.
