Looking to Strengthen Ties with Silver Sanctum and Galactic Alliance

As the title would imply, the Galactic Republic would like to make our friendly relations a little more official. If the political leaders of both factions could get in touch with me and [member="Taeli Raaf"] via PM, that would be great.

[member="Geneviève Lasedri"] - I'll be honest, as a member of the GA and investigating the SSC for an alt of mine, this would deter me *hugely* from activity with either faction if they started involving the GR in their plots. Part of their draw to me is they are not the GR and while not forbidding contact or co-op, have nothing official set-up. Freedom to let the writers be and do what they see fit. I've seen from trying to monitor and help with 'political' talks with the Mandalorian faction exactly what a 'treaty' or 'alliance' will get you from the GR, and I'm not keen on Round 2, when I don't see much having changed from Round 1.

The Republic has a terrible track record and a proven infectious toxicity that spreads to those too close to them. They have some proving to do relating to their maturity and ability to behave, in my mind, before i'm ready to jump into bed with them, so to speak. And things like the recent Map Update thread and 'Why Did You Leave the Republic Thread',. While not overtly hostile in either thread, the actions taken there by 'high profile members' and such has me convinced the root of the problem is still there. If you can't even manage or run your own house, why risk destabilizing or retarding our progress to slow your swan-dive into whatever your fate is?

In my opinion? You lost half your territory as a result of a long string of actions on yours and others parts(not claiming who did what to whom or where fault lies), and now you're trying to cling desperately to rising stars on the board to try and remain relevant and survive. I'm not saying to let you burn, but I'd like to see you prove you've changed and won't just use these new factions as a crutch that you will discard once you are stable.

Note: These views are not condoned or endorsed by GA or SSC in *ANY* way or shape or form. They are solely my personal observations. Take them as that, and that alone.

[member="Ijaat Akun"] - I  you, you know that, but I have to say that constantly seeing this back and forth between the GR & the rest of the board really feels like the age-old debate of:

"This President is terrible"
"The last President was worse"
"This administration inherited the last ones problems!"
"The President 5 administrations ago was the best!"

Everyone wants the Republic to fix itself, but because the board is so cemented in the idea that the Republic as a faction is toxic, anything that is done to try and right the wrongs is considered unacceptable and damaging to anyone else involved. It's a revolving door, a catch-22. I don't see how writing an RP with the SSC & GA to strengthen IC ties has any bearing whatsoever on the toxicity of the Republic. This is crossing the IC/OOC threshold on a much more personal level that borders slightly on the feeling of "Don't RP with anyone in the Republic." I know that's not what your saying, but there are a lot of good people in the GR that just want to RP without being labeled.

As for the Mandalorian alliance - I was the one who set that up with Strider & Anija as [member="Kayleigh Tyven"] months ago. Whatever happened with it I don't know. Both factions assisted one another in dominions, that much I am certain of, as I personally participated in them along with a few others. Invasions? I have no idea, I don't recall, but I do know that certain members of the Mandalorians decided to participate in attacks on the Republic. So I don't know what has happened with that relationship.

Being blunt, the Levantine Sanctum (one of the two precursors to the SSC) was developed to stay out of the politics altogether and keep away from the terrible track record of both Republic and Sith. The OS have stabilised one of the two factions, but the Republic remains a death trap.

While I'm certain the SSC would be willing to engage in relations with you, I doubt an alliance is in our best long-term interests, particularly since it would bring us more firmly into your war. I can't speak for the Council on that, but I don't imagine throwing away our neutrality to help the Republic long-term would do us any good.

I, for one, welcome all RP opportunities that don't immediately promise a headache.
Ah, that word: opportunity.

That is all I see here, folks, and if you would be so kind as to leave the eau de drama out of this, that would be great. Really, this should be a scent-free environment. Come on!

What I want to say is this: so long as this leads to focusing on what is important for the Jedi and galactic peace and freedom (the deconstruction of the Sith powerhouse) and not on anything else, then I think it is not unreasonable to see what can be done with this.

Cheers,

Your Friendly J.A.N. Representative
