Lords and Metal

"You know, I really could have handled this on my own." Said Debbis Endo to the man who stood in front of the large bay window located in his office. The man was Beltran Rarr, Lorrdian hit-man, Antarian Ranger and the true owner of Obsidian Star Technologies. "I mean, I handled the other deals to you satisfaction, didn't I?"

The other deals to which Endo was making note of had been brokered with several other companies throughout the galaxy. This meeting, however, was different.

"The Metal Lords are the chief governing entity on this world," Beltran replied, his soft tone carrying just a hint of menace to it. "You may not have botched yesterday's meetings, but do not think that I have forgotten how to bungled things with the Verpine."

A brief flash of ire rose up in Endo, and he wanted to shout at the other man-to tell him that the failure at Roche hadn't been his. Obsidian Star hadn't the clout, nor the infrastructure to reach that far out into the galaxy. At least it didn't yet.

A buzzing sound cut off the rest of their short-lived conversation as X-JCV, Endo's reception droid, signalled. "Sir," It's monotonous voice called via the comlink installed in Endo's fine Worshyr wood desk. "I have the representative from the Metal Lords here for you."

Endo glanced at Beltran, who'd moved to stand beside Endo's desk with his arms crossed. Today, he'd be playing the part of bodyguard, just as he'd done on Roche. With a slight nod of his head, the Lorrdian gave the Denon businessman leave to conduct the meeting.

"Thank you X-JCV, please show them in."

When the door opened, Endo would greet the representative with a bright smile and call out. "Hello! Hello! Thank you ever so much for meeting with me. Please do come in. Could I interest you in a glass of Alderaanian brandy?"

He would then wave the representative over to his desk and offer them a seat. "Please excuse my bodyguard. I've, unfortunately, had a recent attempt on my life. So for the time being, I am keeping my security close. I'm sure you understand."

Once both beings were settled in to their respective chairs, Endo would lean forward and clasp his hands in front of him. "Now, what can we at Obsidian Star do for you today?"

As lead of the merchant fleet for the Coalition Ra spent much of her time travelling. However, she still had a connection to Denon through the Metal Lords. When an attack had happened to them and their influence had dwindled down, they were now limited to this planet. With the Coalition, she could travel around and continue with the job that had begun out of a small single freighter many years ago.

In the position she was in and the role she played, Ra kept it secret she could even use the Force. The first rule of the Metal Lords was not to make deals with sith. Here she was a sith lord, but placing business before that of her alignment, she kept it hidden.

So while her main position was with the Coalition, she kept her ties with the Metal Lords and wore a pin indicating her belonging to them. As the face of their business side, she wanted to meet with those that were set up on Denon. The Metal Lords presence hadn't been felt here recently, but instead of allowing them to fade into history, she set out to make them known again.

By meeting with Debbis and Obsidian Star Technologies, she hoped to start rebuilding the war torn worlds of the Coalition and establish some connections between the Metal Lords and his company. By doing that, it would also connect him to the Coalition. A benefit to all parties involved.

Walking into the Spire, Ra admired the surroundings after she introduced herself and waited to be let in. It took only a few minutes for that to occur. Since this was business and Ra had no expectations of violence, she was unarmed. Normally she would be almost armed to the teeth, but not today. Her hair she had left down and it flowed down her back with a gentle wave. She wore a business suit and red shirt. On one of the lapels of her jacket, was a pin that indicated her membership of the Metal Lords and on the was one for the Coalition.

At the invitation to enter, she did just that and would accept the offered seat. Her eyes glanced at Beltran as she mentioned and turned back to Debbis as he continued speaking. The presence of the guard was explained and accepted. If this man trusted him, so would she. He then asked what they could do for her. Giving them both a polite smile and nod, she would sit back in her chair.

"Well, I'm am sure you are aware of the recent upheaval in other areas of the Core. At the moment, I am interested in knowing what you may have to offer that could assist in the situation there."

When he offered the brandy, she nodded acceptance.

Endo smiled benevolently as both parties took a seat and began to discuss the specifics. Beltran thought he could see a hint of fear in the Denon businessman's body language. That suited him fine. It was better that Endo was reminded, from time to time, who was truly in charge of Obsidian Star Technologies, and who ultimately held Debbis Endo's life in his hands.

"Why yes, I've been keeping up on all the recent upheavals that the people of the Core have had to endure," Endo was saying. His tone affected a sense of concern that Beltran highly doubted the businessman actually felt.

Deciding that Endo had the meeting well enough in hand, the Lorrdian would turn his attention to the woman who sat opposite him. She held far more interest to him than Endo did. The pins on her lapels marked her as a member of the Free Worlds Coalition, a group that Beltran was very interested in dealing with. His time with the Silver Jedi had taught him that true strength lay in as much of who you knew as what you knew.

The other lapel that she wore, that of the Metal Lords, also intrigued him. The entire group, apparently run by droids, had controlled Denon for much of it's recent history and still had considerable sway here.

"We at Obsidian Star," Endo was saying. "Offer a wide array of small arms and armor options. While our current models tend to be geared toward operators who value stealth and precision over brute force, we have a number of projects in the works that could be useful in more conventional combat situations. For the right incentive, we could provide the people's of the core with inexpensive but effective weaponry with which to protect themselves. I will say that, for the moment, our distribution network is somewhat limited-but I'm sure the Free Worlds Coalition can see to it that the shipments would get to where they're needed."

Projecting nothing but confidence, Ra listened to what Debbis said on what Obsidian Star could offer.

"The Coalition doesn't have a standing military exactly. More they allow each planet to function separately and raise their own defenses. Of course, some locations are better suited to do this. This is when the Coalition unites and help each other out. Sending aide, supplies or whatever is needed to assist the besieged planet. That leads me here I suppose.

"I lead the Merchant Fleet for the Coalition and prior to them, it was the same position with the Metal Lords. While they are still present here, their actual power dwindled down and the Coalition took them in. What is commonly called a lateral transfer in business."

An experienced businesswoman, Ra had also learned to read some body language and compare it to the words spoken. So as Debbis expressed his words of concern, she didn't think he meant them.

Ra was not a person that revealed much, but what would be noticed was the confidence she had. It might also be seen she maintained a neutral face, friendly, but professional. Only her eyes would show any emotion. As of yet, they were also fairly netural. Not happy or sad for the most part.

As she mentioned the Metal Lords, a sense of loss did come off her, but it was quickly replaced by that business façade.

"Myself, I work mostly with droids. Some of my crew are organic and perhaps, I could make a more personal purchase. Take care of my people and let those of the Coalition know about your business."

If they did want to purchase from him, Ra would be the one handling the shipments since that was her exact role for them.
