  • Hangar Space:
    Base | 1 Squadron

    Hangar Allocations:
    Utility Mode
    • Most common hangar configuration
    • Holds 1 full squadron of Gospel Class Dropships
    • Ships are stacked vertically and horizontally. This is done using docking platforms that line the fore and aft walls of the hangar bay.

    Honoured Guest Mode
    • Common configuration for this ship.
    • Meant for hosting 1 larger vessel that is 100 meters long or less, and is moderately narrow.
    • Support craft docking platforms are folded out of the way. Fighter racks are retracted back into the ceiling.
    • Docking clamps are extended and deployed, and a tram-mounted umbilical docking port coupled with whatever vessel that is being hosted in the bay.
    Fighter Support Mode
    • Uncommon hangar configuration for this ship.
    • Support craft landing platforms are folded up and out of the way.
    • Catch-cranes and tram-rails for fighters are lowered from the ceiling.
    • Fightercraft can enter the hangar at high speeds from one side of the ship. The catch-cranes and tram-rails then move the fighters through to the other side. While they are moving through, the fightercraft are rapidly rearmed, refuelled, and repaired. They are then quickly re-deployed into the battlefield within seconds.
    • The tram rails can be used to carry 1 full squadron of fighters if needed, but it is not ideal for pilots when it comes time to embark their ships. This is because the tram rails make it difficult for pilots to board their fighters. This makes deployments from a low readiness level much slower than in a more conventional hangar layout.

ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Forward troop deployment bays:
    • Two very large, well-protected EVA egress bays are built into the "shoulders" that flank the ram-bow structure, as shown in the image. This allows for EVA troops to board enemy vessels immediately following a ramming attack.
  • Drone deployment racks:
  • Sensor Array Systems:
  • Barracks and armoury:
    • x2100 Holy Knight Infantrymen
      • Armoury holds plenty of spare weapons and kit that are typically assigned to the Holy Knight Infantrymen.
    • x10 Paladins
      • Armoury holds plenty of spare weapons and kit that are typically assigned to the Paladins of the Navis Sacra.
    • x1000 Garmr Battle Dog mk1s
      • All stored and keyed to the Angel Navis Operating System of the Lordship
    • Stored Cupid Heavy Rocket Launchers and ammunition, as needed.
  • Versatile Amidships Hangar:
    • While extremely small, this hangar is highly versatile. It has 3 standard modes, which can be configured quickly on the fly. These modes are meant for the following:
      • Utility Mode — 1 full squadron of Gospel Class Dropships
      • Guest Mode — a large ship, 100 meters long or less
      • Fighter support mode— 1 squadron of fightercraft
        • This mode is inefficient when deploying fighters, but makes up for it with its high speed battlefield turnaround abilities.
  • Angel Navis Operating System (X):
    • In adherence to Navis Sacra Religion practices, this ship is blessed with an Angel Navis Operating System so that it can bond with its chosen master. The Operating AI assists the captain and its crew in daily operations.

STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES
Strengths
_____________________________________
Weaknesses
_____________________________________
  • Juggernaut Charging — This ship is designed to charge into enemy lines with an abundance of aggressive confidence. This is achieved through an extremely well-layered forward protection using beskar armour, reinforced shields, advanced ECM drones, and densely packed point-defence weapons.
  • A soft backside — the aft angle of this ship suffers from less protection than all other areas because of the engine bank cavities. In addition, the space-mine magazines can become a volatile powder keg once the shields and armour are stripped away.
  • Knife-fighting — The damage dealing arsenal of this ship is configured almost exclusively for close quarters combat. The forward weapons — the L101 ion canons and the DI.101 "cholesterol" guns — may have excellent range, but are only meant for softening a target with "sucker punches" while approaching. The real damage is then inflicted by the broadside-mounted L121s and the ram-bow, which are intended to be absolutely devastating at short range.
  • Short Range — The only real damage dealing batteries that this ship has are meant for close quarters combat. While the forward-mounted ion canons and corruption turbolasers have excellent range, they are completely incapable of doing any physical damage. The ship must therefore close-in with its target in order to be effective at delivering any respectable amount of punishment.
  • Sprinter — the Nimble-5 Ion Engines on this ship have a powerful "Boost" mode, which allows this ship to reach incredible speeds in short bursts. Provided by Lucerne Labs, this heavy cruiser is equipped with six of these advanced engines, which, even in cruise mode, provide exceptional thrust for a ship this size.
  • Unresting — this ship is incapable of landing Planetside. It can fly through atmosphere, but in order to put "boots on the ground" it must ferry it's troops via shuttlecraft. This process can take longer than a typical embarking/disembarking method. The ship is thus exposed to attacks and ambushes during this time while it waits to load or offload troops.
  • "You saw the lion, but you didn't see the scorpions…." — massive EVA egress bays for deploying troops are installed in the shoulders that flank the ram-bow structure. Upon a successful ramming attempt, powerful forward tractor beams will then attempt to latch on so that space troopers (X) (X) wearing Jetpacks can attempt a boarding action.
  • Easy to Bait — Because of the "brawler" combat profile of this vessel, the captains, crews, and the "Angels" themselves are typically trained to be tactically aggressive whenever deployed on independent assignments. This makes these ships fairly easy to lure into traps or ambushes whenever it is not part of a larger fleet action.
  • Versatile Hangar Bay — The entrance to the amidships hangar bay is deceptively large in appearance. But for what it lacks in its effective size, it makes up for in versatility. The hangar bay can be rapidly configured to carry support ships, tend to starfighters, or host larger ships no larger than 100 meters in length at any given time.
  • Hangar Space Budgeting — While hangar bay in this ship is very versatile, it must make sacrifices in order to carry any one type of compliment. IE: in order to carry a larger, 100 meter long ship, it loses its ability to carry fighters or support ships. Or to carry any of the other two compliments, only one type-configuration can be chosen at a time.

DESCRIPTION
"No longer, shall Bellum Canis stand alone as our sole Vanguard Angel. Ira Sarrin has bravely thrown himself into enemy lines for us time and time again, and has taken the brunt of our military efforts by himself for far too long. Therefore, we have honourably ascended the once-proud Rectifier Class Heavy Cruisers to the likeness of Lordship Angels using our greater technology. They serve as the cousins of Bellum Canis, bravely forming the phalanx of our fleet wherever Bellum cannot be, or to fight side-by-side with Ira Sarrin when the need arises.

"Everything in space wants to kill you. Your Lordship is the literal difference between life and death. Treat her well, and you and your crew will live. Treat it poorly and you will all die.

"Your 'Lordship' has been imbued with a soul and a mind of her own. But she is fragile and needs guidance. She will protect and provide for you as you give her direction and purpose, but she is not to be taken for granted. She is your ward and not your weapon or tool. Accept this communion with joy and humility."

Willow & Ivy at an Angel bonding ritual
"At least this project didn't break our coffers… this time…"

In contrast to the Ophanim Guard project, the Lordship Vanguard project was much much more financially reasonable. This was due to the fact that they were simply a refitting of the old Rectifier Class Heavy Cruiser, as a swath of the once-proud ships became available during the collapse of the old Elysium Empire. The refits were cost effective, and were a significant technological improvement over the older iterations. In the end, the results gave the Nomadic People's a perfectly serviceable cruiser to defend their system.

This iteration of the old heavy cruiser is entirely exclusive to the Nomad fleet as a limited patented design. This is partly because the cruisers' bow armour is still constructed entirely out of the highly controversial metal, beskar steel. Whereas before, beskar from the old MandalArms corporation was used, now the beskar is from the massive reserves that were strip mined from Anvil. This decision was prompted by a recent attack on a storage facility near Yuuzhan'tar by a rogue band of Mandalorians. Even though the massive beskar stores that NAKAIOMA arranged are well defended, and well hidden, the attack triggered a "use it or lose it" mantra amongst the logistics divisions of Damascus Station. Now, the added shoulder armour, and any replaced previous sections of armour are made from "Anvil Beskar". This effort, however, is barely a drop in the pot for making use of Damascus Station's secret Beskar reserves, which must be carefully, and slowly distributed to avoid obliterating the commodity price of the highly coveted metal.

Another reason for the exclusivity of these cruisers is licensing, to put things rather plainly. The contracts that were established with the third party contractors of the Ophanim Guard project had proven to be extremely reliable. The products and services that those contractors provided had won the favour of managers such as Dorthea Dobson and Loreena Arenais-Valhoun. Therefore, those contracts were settled, and then extended through the Lordship Vanguard project and beyond. The result, however, was that these ships could never be replicated for anything other than the Nomadic Peoples Coalition Defence Forces. This was due to the limits of the licensing agreements that were outlined in those contracts. Still, even though these ships cannot be sold for Damascus Station revenue, they are the perfect addition to the Nomad Navy.

These ships bring a formidable counter-offensive edge to the Nomadic Peoples Coalition Defense Forces. When they form a battle line, their ram-bows act as a combined mid-evil "shield-wall". When advancing on the enemy, the forward ion canons splash ionized particles all over the enemy weapons platforms and ships. This is done in an effort to throw off enemy targeting. Drones are also deployed to try and spoof additional false Lordships on enemy scanners, hopefully buying these ships more time to get close. When the Lordships get too close for "illusion" defenses, the dense armor, shields, and point defenses are engineered to be strong enough to hopefully close the rest of the distance. Once the Lordships are within close-quarters combat range, they are designed to re-orient themselves, presenting broadside angles to their enemies. This is where they unleash devastating composite laser salvos. It's worth noting that these broadside arcs have significantly less, albeit still respectable protection than the forward arc. But the broadside arcs more than make up for it with enhanced, close-quarters offensive weaponry.

However, the large engine banks at the aft end of this ship offer something of a significant weakness in the armour, and can be exploited whenever the ship has its "back turned". Therefore, a devastating array of minelayer racks were installed in an effort to prevent a pursuit by enemy forces in the event of a retreat. Despite the minelayers, though, this design still inherently encourages aggressive offensive actions, while discouraging withdrawals. This has thus influenced the ship's AIs and their captains to be much more aggressive than most. This can often make them more gullible in being lured into a trap whenever they are not part of a larger fleet action.

With all of these features tailored for close-quarters, brawling capital ship combat, the need to allocate significant hangar space was sorely neglected. So when it came time to make space for smaller, docking ships, an executive decision was made:
  • Either to use the space to store as many squadrons as possible (as pitiful as that would be)
  • Or to make the space as versatile as possible, but for only one squadron's worth at a time.
The latter choice was made, making the hangar highly, and rapidly configurable — but at the expense of capacity.

In its most common configuration, the hangar bay is designed to comfortably hold a full squadron of Gospel Class Dropships. This is done with individual landing platforms that line the forward and aft walls of the hangar bay, both vertically and horizontally. In this mode, dropships can enter from one side of the ship, land, load/offload whatever they are carrying, and exit the other side. In this mode, traffic flow is easy to regulate and maintain efficiency.

When the hangar is configured for starfighters, it is designed more for field support and tending rather than actual carrying operations. In this mode, the dropship landing platforms are folded up, out of the way, and an intricate catch-crane and rail system is lowered from the ceiling. When these systems are active, starfighters can enter the hangar during the middle of an engagement, where the catch-cranes will snag the fighter in mid-flight at high speeds. The fighters are then carried through from one side of the hangar to the other on rails. While this is happening, automated systems can run rapid repairs, detailed diagnostics, and replenish fuel and munitions within seconds. The biggest drawback of this hangar mode is that the rails make it difficult for pilots to embark there fighters when the cruiser is deploying them from a low readiness level.

In a stroke of genius, a third hangar configuration was attempted by the engineers. In this mode, the starfighter rails and dropship pads are fully retracted and large docking clamps are extended from concealed cavities in the hangar deck. A larger ship, not exceeding one-hundred meters in length, can then snugly fit in the now available open space. An adjustable umbilical docking port on rails then attaches to whatever ship design is being held by the clamps. In this mode, drydock-level repairs can be performed on a ship that is being held in this configuration.

Lastly, these ships are called "Angels" by rule of the Navis Sacra classification system, and they are referred to as "Lordships", not Cruisers. This particular model of Angel is referred to as the "Lordship Vanguard" and is called a heavy cruiser strictly for the sake of non-practitioners who don't understand the faith. They are controlled by an Angel Navis Operating System, which completes the bond between a captain and their ship through the Force, and also aids the crew in daily operations. Because of the AI, the ship is sentient and is considered alive and holy in the eyes of the Navis Sacra Religion. It has a living soul, which has been enteched, and deserves all the respect of a living being. The Angel is always loyal to the crew, the captain, and the Holy Prophets Willow & Ivy, but the crew and captain are required to be equally as loyal back.

Or, as the Twins always say, "The Navis Protects!"

Thank you in advance for reviewing this submission! This format that you see is highly experimental, and it is an evolution of my previous work. There are many new experimental features that are added in this iteration, and a careful review by the judging staff is highly appreciated. This format is ever-evolving, and it’s one of those things that will always strive to be mastered, but never perfected. Feedback is extremely beneficial.

Here, a condensed balancing table has been provided to make the judges’ lives a little easier. Admittedly, there is an insane amount of data in the technical specifications section, and one can imagine that these variable ratings are a nuisance to tally up. Therefore, this table is intended as a means to save a you bunch scrolling. It is trusted that the judges will check these numbers anyways, and such vigilance is highly appreciated. Hopefully, this will save at least a little bit of the headache when reviewing this:

*Broadside arcs consist of Dorsal, Ventral, Starboard, and Portside arcs.

Realistically, I am not expecting that a format this experimental will go to go straight to approval without edits. My obsession with space ships tends to get away from me lol. I trust in the judging staff's ability to protect the fairness of the factory system, and I look forward to working with you in bringing this design to life with due respect to the ruleset.

Thanks again!

Issues from minor to drastically needed.

This goes to something else, please check your links.

Now for your armament....I love the explanation underneath but the answer is just no. Armament should be one whole field, all together as that is all the weapons on a starship to be used at any time. Now you can make the arcs strengths and weaknesses if you like. Otherwise, this is just not going to work.

When the armament is fixed, I will go over your ratings with a fine comb and ensure it is correct.

Let me know when this is fixed.

Alrighty. Thank you for your help in this. If you see anything else, including arbitrary aesthetic changes, I’m happy for any further feedback if you feel inclined to do so. I enjoy this process tremendously, but I understand that you’re not beholden to provide feedback on that sort of thing, and we all have lives.

Moving on to my fixes:
  • I removed the firing arc variable ratings from armaments and defences and defaulted to the old Rectifier Heavy Cruiser setup.
  • I retained the variable ratings inflicted by the Nimble V ion engines on defenses, maneuverability, and speed.
  • I didn’t add any strengths or weaknesses to the submission, because I feel like what you suggested was already exhibited. I did add italics and underlines though to emphasize certain words.
  • I fixed the damn droid link. Stupid droids…
And I think that about covers it!

Thanks again!
