Lost City

Emberlene's Daughter, The Jedi Generalist
[member="Kerri Aislinn"]

Ancient ruins, jungle world, sithspawn... hidden temple and riches... what more could you want to find and since well since the mandalorians had cleared out Yavin IV was well without Ember and his clan. Not that she disliked the man but he was different and had made this world secured beyond what most would think. So with them gone and some time past the jedi master was leading a small team to go into the world and search for the rumored lost city. A place where some records showed the rebellion had discovered.... She just didn't know where it was and had left a posting for an engineer in the holonet with her offices. They could come and aid in exploring as well as being able to work the technical side of the lost city.

The jeid amster stood there, the runabout shuttle touching down in the jungle near one of the older temples. Not the main massassi temple but an outer temple as she looked out at the pond in front of and around it. Shallow in places but there was stones to walk pover the water.. In a way that required you to bow your head to pay attention to the walk way. She was getting some of her equipment as she secured the robes and pack. For anythign that might be needed to deal with.. she wasn't certain but stepping out fo the runabout she activated the optical cloak from the microcrystal layer of hull plating. She touched the chevron pad and looked over the readouts while waiting near the center of the temple centering herself to go in search of the city.

"Ugh! Are you kidding me?"

The warning signal blared from the moniters. The terrelian groaned as she threw herself back in her seat, "Karabast!"

She ran her hands over several buttons and levers. As she prepped her ship, Dagmy, she spoke out loud, "Wasp, I need you to send us to the nearest planet. Ship ran out of fuel again... At least I have some in the back."

The black and gold R9 unit moaned, sharing his owner's exasperations. Someday, they could actually get the supplies to improve their ship - or cardboard box with an engine attached. Someday...

That was not this day, however. As of now, the ship flew into hyperspace.

It was a forested world. Thick trees and foliage would make it difficult to land. The young woman flew as low as she could, turning on the ship's navigational system. "Wasp, we need a solid and flat surface."

The droid took over piloting as she stood up. She pushed her streaks of pink highlights behind her ears. She then turned to get the fuel canisters ready. She planned on landing, refueling, and getting out.

Little did she know that the Force worked in mysterious ways. Today, she would unwillingly take her first step into purpose.

They came to land of top of a ruined temple roof. Little did they know that they were so, so close to more sentients. The girl didn't sense it, the droid didn't bother to scan for terrestrials. Yet they were already in eyesight. Below them, at a shallow, still pool, she was there.

Matsu was looking around when she felt it, within the force someone was coming and then she saw a ship overhead looking at it land.... ont he temple.. a historical site that might not survive...... She was looking at it but felt mo malice and she moved quickly. Jumping up as she used the force to strengthen her legs and the ship seemed aged... ragged and on the verge of falling apart but she didn't need to speak. Just stand there and clasped her hands behind her back for a moment then thought better of it. To show that she was not armed yet to whoever so they might come out and talk with her. "Welcome to Yavin." She said it normally and into the force just in case but was curious about who might be within the ship. There weren't many who came to Yavin without a reason.

Wasp followed Kerri into the hull where she was dragging a large fuel canister across the floor. Her powerful terrelian legs scraped across the floor, then-

"Welcome to Yavin."

She let go of the tank. Shocked.

Citrine eyes burst wide. That... was not natural. Immediately, she raced and grabbed her blaster. Stuffing it behind view, beneath her cloak, she told her astromech to stay and raced out, "Who did that?"

She obviously had no experience with the force, despite being sensitive to it.

Then, she turned and saw her. Dark hair and wise eyes, she was just standing there. Serene. Kerri raised an eyebrow, "You heard that?"

Matsu looked at the girl and raised an eyebrow delicately confused but not going to make a deal of it while she spoke. "Yes I did, are you alright dearie?" She said it motioning with her hand and taking in the temple with a small look. "The temple is a historical site, landing on it could have cause it to collapse beneath your ship and cause problems." She spoke but was not making any moves around as she took in the sight of the girl and she was a different species then she was used to. A jango jumper was not often seen going around the galaxy.. and she was hapy. Fun to meet new species and realy get to know them.

Kerri was intrigued by the fact that this mysterious woman heard the voice. Even more confusing, the voices matched. However, upon being told that this "temple" was a precious landmark, her orange eyes widened in alarm. Serving as an educated engineer caused her to stiffen up in attention, "S-sorry, ma'am! I shall re-land the shuttle."

Immediately, she raced back into the ship. Despite Wasp's confused beeps, Kerri immediately lifted the tachyon freighter from its temporary perch. She spotted a clear patch of land behind the building. She then proceeded to land it on sturdy ground. After this, she exited the shuttle.

Thanks to her terrelian biology, she lept up to the same roof again in a single bound. The teen landed with grace, then looked up to the woman again. "Apologies, again..."

"... Hey, where are we?" She mumbled, looking around.

Matsu looked at her and she seemed surprised with a look and then she was running back to move the ship. Matsu stood there and was waiting for her as she landed the ship and jumped up to her. The jedi master walked forward and spoke softly with a smile. "THis is the temple of Exar Kun on Yavin young one." She offered a hand to the woman with a nod of her head. "I am jedi master Matsu Ike and am here exploring. I am guessing you were one of the people I sent out a job offer for yes." She was looking around the there were ruined parts of the temple that had the jedi master looking around at the toppled statue until she was moving around.

Jedi?

She really wished she brought weapons out with her. How could she be so foolish?!

She had been taught her whole, by Sith led Coruscant, that the Jedi were “evil.” Dispute the fact that she hated the Sith and its oppressive government, culture and upbringing always told her that their arch enemies, the Jedi, were just as evil.

Shockwaves of fear and anger shot through the Force in waves. The young woman took a defensive step back. “I… heard of no engineering job…”

She was speaking the truth. She had seen no offer for a job in engineering. Yet, once again, a lifetime of running and cowering from the Sith kicked in, “If you need an engineer, however. I-I could be of assistance.”

Kerri was pretty darned good at keeping up appearances. She had spent four years at an academy, of course she was good! Her multiple licenses in engineering and piloting were safely stored in her ship. She had found out she was eligible to the sensitivity in the Force by taking every test possible in private. She knew that if the Sith found out, she could be forced to join them – as an acolyte, assassin, inquisitor, whatever. She had hacked the computer system herself and tweaked the results. She could not allow herself to be bound to those tyrants. Never.

So here she was, left with only one choice. She could… assist this Jedi. So she could live. It was her instinct.

Matsu looked at the girl, wide eyed and interested in paying attention.. paying full attention to her as the girl seemed to be remembering something then going into a stance and fianlly looking at her. "That would be fine." She said it and stood there before sliding a hand into her pocket and producing some of the credit chits. "PLenty of credits young one, you only need to help me find and get into the Lost City. Here on the planet it is supposed to be in charge of the terraforming and environmental equipment that was placed here tens of thousands of years ago," Matsu was walking and gave no indication that she was upset at the girl but motioned with a hand offering her arm. "Come along if you want, the city is underground so just need to find some geothermal vents most likely. If you should need anything please I am only wanting to help make your job easier."
