- Compact: The Vibrant is a compact weapon, making it easy to conceal or integrate into personal armors, droids, or other devices.
- Mechanical Controls: The Vibrant's controls operate purely on mechanical principles, using valves, levers, and springs to operate. Because of this nature, it is unaffected by ion, EMP, or tech-deadening effects in its base form.
- Biological Based Operating System: The actual Bio-Energy Array itself is a simple biological construct that must feed on organic matter in order to generate its lightning bolt-like attack. This can be accomplished by feeding it almost any sort of organic matter into its rear chamber which Vibrant than digests in order to make fuel. Quality protein is the best feed to ensure more reliable operation, better bolt power, and quick digestion in order to faster reload the weapon. However, digestion is naturally not a quick process, which often means that this weapon cannot effectively be reloaded in combat. As a living thing, the operating system of Vibrant is also affected by many things that would also affect other living things such as disease or temperature extremes. However, it also means that the Vibrant is not affected by ion, EMP, or energy draining attacks.
- Modular Trigger system: Vibrant by default has a trigger that's activated by pulling a ring that's worn on a finger. However, it does have a space specifically set up within the body of the gauntlet itself to allow it to be integrated with an electronic trigger for use in battle armors or droids.
- Powerful: The Vibrant produces a fairly potent lightning bolt that is equivalent to that of a heavy blaster rifle, often making it capable of piercing through many armors and inflicting grievous injuries to organic beings.
- Shield Penetrator: Like the original Bio-Energy Array, the Vibrant's lightning bolt largely passes through energy shielding unhindered, making it especially dangerous to those who rely on shielding for protection.
- Small Ammunition Capacity: The Vibrant is a small device/creature, and can only store enough power for a couple dozen shots - which is less than that of many similarly sized blaster pistols.
- What reload? The slow digestive process of the Vibrant often means that it cannot effectively be reloaded in combat in most instances unlike conventional technology.
The latest in Lucerne Personal Defense's line of exotic gauntlet weaponry, the Vibrant is highly unusual in that it is actually a genetically engineered organism based on previous work performed by the Qektoth Confederation hundreds of years ago with their Bio-Energy Array. This is not apparent in its exterior design though, and much of the external controls and the weapon's chassis is based on IceJet Miniaturized CryoBan Sprayer. Pulling the trigger on the Vibrant stimulates its organism to release a large, vibrant blue bolt that looks like condensed lightning. This lightning acts largely like a typical, large blaster bolt except that its inherent nature allows it to largely pass through conventional shielding technologies unhindered. This latter asset has become interesting to the LPD design team as the Bryn'adul have started to combine their anti-technological devices with shield generators of their own design, making them particularly formidable against most conventionally equipped forces. Lucerne Personal Defense consequently envisions the Vibrant as next generation back-up weapon for dealing with this exceptionally dangerous threat to the galactic community.
Given the limitations of the Vibrant's low ammunition capacity and short range, Lucerne Personal Defense markets the Vibrant as a back-up weapon for those concerned about being attacked by Bryn'adul. It's relatively small size, light weight and bracer configuration makes it a relatively convenient and unobtrusive weapon for such as a purpose, while its relatively high power hopefully should provide its user with sufficient stopping power against an unwary foe. Lucerne Personal Defense is also beginning to incorporate the weapon in several of its upcoming battle armor designs while its parent company is considering it for use in several of their battle droid designs.
