CHAPTER ONE: Beginnings
Lu was born into the Bathory family of the Imperial Knights. Her mother, her aunt, her grandmother and so on all served for generations. It was a large tradition that the daughters served the Emperor. When she was five Lu met her father. He was a strong and powerful Marshal who was usually away on assignment. He brought her back stories of Imperial glory and strength. This enamored the girl and she wished she was older so that she might spread and expand the might of their glorious empire.
Lu reached the age of eight and when she was with her nanny showed her first out break of force powers. She was in the market and wanted to visit the Candy store. When it was refused she screamed throwing her hands out and sent a wave towards her nanny. The woman and others were sent back into the air and the spoiled brat stood there stomping her feet.
Later that night when her mother got home Lu was punished. Her mother had returned from the Imperial Academy and she was pissed. Lu was beaten and bruised but still left to go to her room. She was an Imperial knight hopeful she couldn't bring shame to the family by using her powers in public for such a childish display. She was going to be punished more when her father got home from the outer rim.
Lu was in her room for a week, she was left to think about her choices and how she acted in the market. It wasn't fair she had wanted to do something and the servants wouldn't let her. She had spent the better part of her time screaming. Her mother was being unfair locking her in her room with none of her stuff. Her temper tantrum echoed down the halls for all to hear throughout thee day and into the night. Then it went a little quiet as she calmed down and there were no more screams. Just silence.
Finally her father arrived after a second week. Lu was excited to see him but stopped being excited when she saw the stern look on his face. He didn't beat her he just shook his head in disappointment then sent her back to her room. She had gotten food from one of the servants as usual and went to sleep. Lu had always looked forward to the times when she would be able to see her father and he was never upset with her. Now he was and she vowed to never see that look on his face again.
When she was seven Lu was taken before a council. Her mother was head of the Academy for Imperial knights on their planet and had brought her. She was to be judged so when she turned ten she would already have a place in the academy. Lu answered all the questions looking ahead and not at the expression on her mothers face. There was nothing loving at the academy everything she saw and did was precise and uniform. She was accepted and placed on the list at number one since they hadn't gotten any other children for that year.
When Lu was eight she met a boy, she was in the market and she watched him steal some fruit. He was caught but she took pity on him paying for it and showing her ID card got the guards to leave. No one wanted to cross her mother and gain her ire. They talked for the day and Lu watched him leave heading back to the streets. She went home and told her mother as she was excited. Her mother was not pleased she was talking with street trash and explained that they were the nobility. Above the rank and file and in charge of things more important.
It was Lu's ninth birthday, she and her mother were in the market and she saw Sebastian. He made a mistake, her mother was walking and he bumped into her taking her pouch. Lu had never seen her mother use the force in public but the Imperial knight turned on her heel and ripped the pouch back. There was a loud pop as his arm was dislocated and Lu's mother stood over the boy with her lightsaber. She had him arrested and sent to the prison. Later he would be sent to the spice mines for his crimes.
Finally the day had come. Lu was ten and it was her birthday, her mother had rented out the top floor of a building overlooking the city. In the distance the Imperial Academy loomed with its gray stone and black marble. Lu still had fun what was going to be her class was there and celebrating with her. They played some games of push feather and other board games. When the party was over the room was surrounded with Imperial knights and Lu was taken with the others to the academy. She got a hug and a kiss from her mother,
The academy was brutal at first, she wasn't used to living without servants to do everything she dind't want to do. She wasn't used to sleeping on a schedule she did not set. It was a wonderful wake up call to what her new life was going to be like. She might have been a noble of the Bathory family but here until she showed she was different... better she was just another Imperial knight prospect getting trained.
CHAPTER TWO: Imperial Knights Training
The first month of her training was tough but Lucrezia learned how to move and act properly. She was a noble but now she was being taught like a soldier and in the fighting classes. She learned quickly fencing and using a lightsaber were different, sometimes you had to use your hands instead of place one behind your back. You had to stand differently then to the side and deflecting blaster bolts she had never thought about before.
Slowly as time went on Lucrezia developed a pattern to her classes and drills and trials. She came to enjoy them because they pushed her to dig down deep into herself and strive for being better... To push her own limits. None was more important then when she was using the force or facing the odds. Three on one, four on one of it was fun. She felt like a princess going at them all and her reputation for tactical awareness lent to her small rising in the ranks.
Lucrezia met a girl in training, one of the other prospects and she could admit it was a strange bond. Teresa was talented and from a poor family they had scrimped and saved to get her noticed by the knights and sent here. This intrigued Lucrezia who's mother always seemed to be getting her small things. Different food for the academy and at times trips for training on exotic locales. Her class was treated very well using her families money.
Her first mission with Teresa saw Lucrezia and the girl exploring the jungles of Felucia for the local clans. They continued to explore and Teresa fell down a slope into a nest of a Rancor as the prospect jumped and mounted the beast. Lucrezia moved and fired itno the soft skin at the cheeks and her lightsaber went for the eyes. Her foot kicked into the mouth of the rancor to bash the teeth aside. She knocked them out and as the Rancor fell down she stood on his back.
Teresa and Lucrezia were moving as they dug their lightsabers into the back of the creature and cut grooves to make sure he was dead. His heart was sliced and lungs crushed while they got some of the teeth and a rib as proof. Killing such a beast was a sign of respect and they memorized where he was for reference. They could say and send the clans hunters here for the meat. In her excitement Teresa kissed Lucrezia and Lucrezia's eyes widened in surprise.
It was not unpleasant but it was not expected to the woman. She cared for her friend but she had never thought of herself as a lesbian and even less as one to hook up until later in life. She figured she would be set into an arraigned marriage same as her mother was and be used to further the Bathory families holdings in the galaxy but she returned the kiss in those split seconds she saw fear on the womans face. She didn't want to see that look again and slowly her mouth drank of her lips so deeply there was the feel of teeth grinding against each other.
They pulled back and eventually found the clan they were searching for, after relaying the information to them about the rancor they left. It was time to return home well to at least return, home was relative to them for the time as they ship jumped to hyperspace on the scenic route. Teresa took them towards Iego and as Lucrezia looked at the world of a thousand moons she was at peace. Their meditations and preperations were peacefulo for a few days until they had to return to Bastion.
Upon return to Bastion after a week orbiting Iego Lucrezia visited her mother and was told that with her success she was being promoted. She was a knight now and as such had to train some of the prospects. She took Teresa under her wing for the time being, she taught her how to use the force to create a shockwave and decimate groups. The other training in equipment was so Teresa could hold her own if the worst happened. They needed to be able to stand and fight to protect the people.
The next few years were well spent, Teresa and Lucrezia partook of missions as needed and trained with each other at every chance. They moved their quarters so they were always together. Best friends and at times with benefits but first and foremost student and teacher... teacher and student. Lucrezia learned a great deal from the woman as well as she taught. They fought across the galaxy helping the people they could and capturing the criminals with resolve. Their ship was their first home and slowly as they trained and grew older it got bigger.
Finally when she was eighteen Lucrezia returned to Bastion to visit her mother and learned what would be required of her. She was to marry a count from the mid rim to join the two families. It was her duty to unite their houses as Lucrezia was upset. She cried and begged with her mother wanting to be a knight and save people not a Countess who stayed home and barely did anything but have daughters. Her future husband was vile and boorish with a pot belly a sign of how his life style was lax. Her mother said she would talk with her later about it and didn't want to see her daughter upset.
CHAPTER THREE: The Purge
Then it happened, the skies above the world burned when the Sith came. The Imperial Knights had called everyone and Lucrezia just barely in was brought there. They had to fight in a new war as fire rained from the sky. They had to survive to fight back the tide of the darkside and she looked at her new family as behind her the section where her house was located. Blew up being ruins, Lucrezia moved with them to fight the advancing armies and began to learn as she went but the saber was dangerous and she burned her leg.
As the forces at Bastion fought they rescued as many as they could and evacuated. The sith threat had returned and not they were being hunted. With communication cut off the Imperial knights fled the planet and made their way for Coruscant. If the sith were attacking them they would be attacking the jedi. On the way there the reports came in. This was a systematic purge of the Imperial knights and any who wanted to could join the empire. The rest were outlaws and to be hunted down like dogs.
Lucrezia watched as the leadership of the Imperial knights crumbled and the few with her tried to fight. They had gathered deep from the reach of the Sith near the Seoul system and there they prepared. No one came here they left the dead worlds alone. So her training continued and she was better able to prepare. They had to find a way to strike at the sith to take back what was lost. As they planned Lucrezia thought about her life and where it had been before the purge. Now as they joined up with the rest of the knights.
The assault that came was large, the knights had assembled all their ships and all their members to strike at the heart of the empire. The Imperial Palace was afire as they went at the sith with everything they had. Wave upon wave of silver blades met red in a large sea of fighters. The Imperial knights punched a hole in the sith lines and made it into the hall to face the sith emperor but no one was there. He had left but kept a squad of soldiers and masters there for them.
With the trap sprung Lucrezia watched as her friends were killed and she fled the attack. They let her go laughing as she fled to the ship. It was not fair she hadn't expected this but as she watched fire rain from the sky her and a few knights got onto the ship with her. Less then twenty escaped the orbital bombardment but they had a single sith captive. A shot from a cannon struck them as they flew and damaged the sensors causing an explosion right as they jumped to hyperspace.
CHAPTER FOUR: Lost in Space
The jump didn't complete the computer and hyperdrive went offline a little after they jumped and... darkness they were lost somewhere between the empires capital and Republic space. Then slowly as they got the fires out the navigation went dead and they were drifting. The sith prisoner they had was interrogated while they tried to make repairs. The prisoner didn't tell them where they had been hiding just that they had returned. With so few knights and supplies now of great importance they killed the man.
The repairs continued for several days as they rationed the supplies. The oxygen had thankfully continued to work o while they looked at the damaged console. The repairs were easy somewhat. They were able to get moving if nothing else and some steering. Thee were still in space outside a hyperspace lane where they might be seen and using the distress signal was dangerous. Of the twenty of them there five were injured from the fight and one dying.
The one dying Alec was hard to watch as much as she didn't know him he was one of the last knights. That meant above all else he was precious to the order and each stood watch over him as he slowly passed on. The ship had spotted a planet but there was no promise it would be inhabited or that it was near a shipping lane. They still tried to repair as much as they could around the ship before landing and with the landing gears fixed they made ready to set down.
The ship braced itself and shook the entire time as Lucrezia looked and saw sections of it coming off. They had repaired as much as they could but when it finally broke through the back section came off and they strapped themselves in. Not enough seats were present so the ones who could held on as they scrapped a mountain top then hit a river. Lucrezia looked and felt the icy chill of the water while they climbed out of the ship.
They swam and panicked in the water as the ship rushed down the raging river. Seventeen Imperial knight remained but only thirteen made it to shore as the ship fell down a thunderous waterfall. Lucrezia looked as the sun beat upon them at the world and beheld nothing. It was stillness no creatures that she could sense in the area. None the others could see of sense either. It took them several hours to dress wounds and salvage what they could as the sight of the forest and setting of the sun came. Then in the distance it could be heard like howls of feral creatures.
CHAPTER FIVE: The Undying
They ran the howls in the dark had come from all around them and were closer then they thought but still they couldn't sense anything. The creatures weren't able to be found in the force and Lucrezia tried to help the injured but some fell behind. Their screams tore through the night as whatever was coming devoured them. They ran and ran and Lucrezia didn't know for how long. The night had come and only the red of the other imperial knights let her know she wasn't running alone. Then they found it a small cave opening and rushed inside.
Inside the cave they ignited the sabers as several of the more experienced knights pulled rocks in front of the cave just enough to keep most things outside. The place was damp and there was the scent f blood but as they explored the scratching on the rocks came and shrieks of anger and frustration. They kept exploring and found bones and some meat from creatures on the world... fresh kills from the looks. They found some armor but it had been too damaged to make out insignia. It looked like they had tried to bite through it.
They went deeper into the cave finding bodies strewn and eaten, finding horrors that couldn't be unseen but after walking through they found it. Light at the end of the tunnel and looked upon the world, it was desolate and destroyed. With sections of the ground glassed and the city in ruins they marched. Hopefully there would be some wort of port with a ship or beacon, at this point the sith were even a welcome to what was chasing them. At least you can fight the sith and beat them.
They finally made it before nightfall to the city, the walls were high but the gates to it destroyed. Not by bombardments but by time and rust. They fell from their hinges and in the silence of the world gave a thunderous crash. Then they heard it echoing from the mountains, more howls and shrieks. They needed to run again and went towards the port finding a mining facility. The doors were heavy and stable, the room secure as they closed it and bared the windows. The sounds got closer as they looked upon the creatures finally in the light of the moon.
They were twisted and humanoid in look at first but then the one turned and Lucrezia saw its face. Saw the mauling it had taken as it dislocated its jaw and shrieked altering the others to her in the window. They crashed against the wall and window breaking it as boney hands some with missing flesh came through. They were torn and cut up and missing chunks everywhere. It was a horrible sight as the red armor of an imperial knight shown and they looked on in horror.
It was one of the knights who had disappeared in the knight and now he was here with his face eaten off and armor covered in thick black blood. With an outstretched hand the other moved and activated their sabers. If they were going to die they would go out fighting these abominations and then the window was open. They hand forced the boxes blocking is aside and slipped in one losing his lower half as he fell to the floor and the knights got to work.
The zombies were on the floor and as they waded into the knights were cut down easily but they kept coming. Even when struck down their torsos kept coming at the knights trying to bit through their armor. Their nails crawled at them and the knights retreated into the city rushing towards the hangers. Lucrezia watched one of the knights fall and be torn apart as they ran. She could feel the tears in her eyes but now wasn't the time as they arrived and found a single ship there with more soldiers and.... and her mother.
CHAPTER SIX: The Cathedral
Lucrezia didn't know what to say to that.. her mother was alive and had come to rescue her. Now as the other imperial knights filed into the port they saw and rejoined their brothers and sisters on the ship. They escaped getting on as the swarm of zombies came. It wasn't easy but the other knights explained they had tracked them and been searching. Since the engine had cut off and left them somewhere no one thought to look, they had started on the back water worlds the sith wouldn't suspect for now. Her mother had lived although injured and been on board one of the ships that survived in a bacta tank.
The ship they were on wasn't much but there were now a team of them. Sixteen of them now stood after all the loses and the rumor that more might have survived was something to hope for. As they flew in hyperspace towards Coruscant and the Republic Lucrezia slept and as she slept she woke up in her bunk to her mother standing over her. To the other knights who had rescued them standing and holding here with a gag. They had something and then it came from a ichor a green fluid that entered her nose and she couldn't move or speak. Her mother tapped her forehead right in the center and spoke in whispers as they released her.
She didn't remember the rest she had written it off as a dream as they landed on Yavin to refuel. It wasn't much but the old stuff here still had some to spare for them as well as old rations made to last forever... they hoped. The place was overrun but they found the shattered remains of the black temple. Kun's temple was still creepy even after it had been destroyed but as Lucrezia looked for anything that might have been left behind. The sith appeared overhead in large warships as the knights retreated into the temples underground.
Under the swamp they found a large chamber with leaking water and statues as they prepared to make their last stand. It never came when her mother tapped her forehead and sent her against her friends. The sith hadn't missed the knights they had corrupted them from their purpose and now Lucrezia was trapped in her mind as the sith turned knights slaughtered the people. When it was over she stood among the men and was released from the spell. Her mother and the others were laughing the entire time as the sith forces entered the cathedral and Lucrezia was all alone.
The terms were simple as her mother spoke to her. She could fight and die, try and run and hide in the jungle or join them and find a place among the sith. She could be happy and loved as the masters welcomed them. Embraced them and were showing them the true secrets of he force. Lucrezia fell to her knees and wept as she couldn't bring herself to raise her blade and fight. She was carried away by the knights and her mother led the way. Their hoods rising while she was loaded onto the ship and taken towards the warship.
On the warship Lucrezia felt nothing she didn't know what to do as her armor was stripped from her and she was tortured. She could feel the danger her mind subjected to the darkside to make her submit and she did if only to stop the pain. Slowly she was allowed to climb off the slab and made to inflict the same pain on others. She was told she needed to get strong to kill and let her passions show her. Her desires for power and lust for it would make her a powerful sith. Lucrezia retreated into her mind and stopped answering to her name taking Lu as her new name. She would be the perfect sith as her mother reminded her she had sworn loyalty to the empire and that meant she owed it to those above her.
She was with them for a year and a half as the darkside twisted her into something more... She wasn't an imperial knight anymore she was like the rest. Twisted and sick trapped in an iron cage in her mind while her body did what its masters ordered. She killed, she screwed and she trained in the darkside until one of the masters attacked her. He assaulted her mind and something broke. The iron cage she had fallen itno to protect her mind was broken and open and Lucrezia screamed as she struck back at him and stabbed him on her saber. She had to escape and got to work by raiding the armory and taking the grenades as she went to the engine room.
She placed the grenades and set a fuse on them while she moved and went towards the escape pods. Sabotaging them would be easy enough and she locked them. Her masters codes were good enough to work and then she rushed to the hanger bay. The ships there were a problem at first then all she had to do was take the shield off as they went into space with several dozen soldiers. Lucrezia hated it she didn't want to kill anymore but needed to get out as the only ship remaining was her mothers. She moved getting to it and confronted the woman.
They fought but it wasn't long lasting the grenades had detonated and the ship was breaking apart as the engine blew up. Her mother was thrown and Luvrezia jumped as the docking clamp was breaking apart and closed the airlock. The destroyer blew apart into pieces and Lucrezia hit the hyerpdrive without setting a proper course. She didn't care where she was going just away from there. The ship came out above a planet and as she brought it in.. something went wrong. The ship smashed upon landing into a dirt mound and she flew through the cockpit window.
She could feel the blood on her arms and face as she looked up and a red haze set over her vision. She felt things moving on her as hands lifted her broken body and sealed her wounds with gunk. Slowly she saw the large Kiltiks and was laying surrounded by several species from around the galaxy and realized what had happened. She was in the hive and couldn't fight it her body protested her movements while they healed her body... but she felt it the tingle. In the backll of her head that was the buzz of the hive the buzz of contol and collective thought processes.
CHAPTER SEVEN: Joiner
She didn't know what was happening it was like a dream. her body moved but the only thoughts in her head were the hive. She could hear all the others and the orders to work to repair the damage that had been caused. When the sith came to the world they fought them. There wasn't a single person it is was the hive and all worked for the betterment of it. She didn't know when she had fallen into it... as she had been laying there healing perhaps. One slip up and the buzzing had become deafening then the voices.
She didn't know how long the hive had her within them but she knew she worked and worked hard daily. Her body usually lightly toned grew more muscle and any damage was harder to see. The cuts and bruises long gone healed with time and the Kiltik stuff. They conducted small raids on settlements at time mainly to bring back more and expand the hive. They burrowed into the earth down deep making the tunnels.
Lucrezia was trapped in her own mind she couldn't feel anything in her body all she could do was watch from behind glassy eyes and rage at the thought. Her body was being used again without her on control, she didn't know what else to do. She tried to force the buzzing out of her head but it was too hard she was exhausted mentally and wanted to just give in and slip into that blissful death that came with your mind being mush and the Kiltik controlling you.
It wasn't all work though sometimes she saw them attacking other Kiltik clans on the planet mainly when territory crossed. The wars were brutal but easy the joiners fought until they couldn't fight anymore and protected the leaders of the hive. The collective knowledge they had gained from the other joiners and the ones they assimilated added to their knowledge. They learned how to fight better and be more dangerous.
Soon the hive had overtaken the planet and stood with billions of joiners as the kiltiks numbered few but wanted to expand. There were ships a plenty on the world and they slowly started to fuel and prepare them. They were headed off world and to overtake the neighboring planets. The war between the Kiltik clans had begun as Lucrezia remained silent in her cage. If more joined the buzzing would get louder but if the bug got crushed maybe there was a chance she could be free.
CHAPTER EIGHT: Battle of the Citadel
They spread out the hives forces and went after the moon first then they would expand to the neighboring planets. It was all about what could be taken and added to their own. Lucrezia fought using her saber in battle against other drones in an effort to get to the hive leader. It was in pure greed as one by one the kiltik would fall and slowly over some time eventually the enemy joiners would become them. Would add themselves to the collective.
They went across the moon finding thee other hives until they came to the civilization that had been there before. Ancient and prosperous until the hive had come and assimilated the humans. Now it was rubble but some areas were still around. The massive structure had been designed to be a place of worship. Now it was a place of untold amounts of slaughter as the hive descended on the ancient citadel.
It wasn't quick and it wasn't clean they fought like animals throughout the ancient structure. As time went on parts began to crumble and many joiners died. Lucrezia fought to the highest point and looked down with several others at a large pool. They jumped and splashed into it as the structure fell crushing untold amounts. As they swam lower in the pool they found the tunnels that let into the hives main nest.
There with little joiner drones to protect them the leadership of the hive was killed easily while their drones went into a comatose state. Then crazed then back into a coma while the song mixed with their. Soon the new joiners marched with Lucrezia towards the real problem. They had found another nest on the next planet and it was time to take the system.
CHAPTER NINE: Battle of the Dark Nest
They descended upon the Dark Nest. It was an ancient Kiltik hive that was strong but fighting had made Lucrezia's stronger and the Republic had destroyed a great deal of their enemy. When the time came they assaulted the tunnels finding the paths deep down to surprise them. Blades and claws met the other joiners as Lucrezia maimed and cut through as many as she could.
They charged the path and made it into the lowest reaches they could, there they found albina joiners one who never saw the sun and had become simply blind drones. As they moved through them the idea of ending them didn't come. As long as they remained silent it was easy. Crossing the channel that had an underground river Lucrezia watched as they enetered the ancient cavern and then the army of joiners descended upon the once powerful leaders of the dark nest.
The rest was a slaughter the leaders weren't the old dangerous ones of the past. No these ones in control were young and had lived down below far to long. Their eyes weak their bodies frail and it made it easy. Oh so very easy to beat them. As the joiner army emerged from its underground tunnels the sun blinded for a time but eventually all was well.
CHAPTER TEN: Kerrigan the Joiner Queen
The final part was the tenth planet in the system. It was covered by a single hive and as Lucrezia came to it she observed like the others... that is wasn't a hive. No it was mercenaries and they were killing the hive. This could work out good but her brothers and sisters wanted them to take them all. So they assaulted the world and prepared to raze it and take them.
They didn't know what was there, as the joiners descended upon the mercenaries hive drones came to help them. It was a brutal fight and the joiners were repelled as they retreated into space. The first of several fights had ended and much like the others going on across the surface well It wasn't good. This hive was better organized then they had believed. That meant better quality in the joiners who shared their knowledge.
The battle was long and hard but as they fought over the next several weeks they eventually got the leader to come out. A dark jedi had been joined and instead of becoming one of them had dominated the hive mind. She was in charge and led the assault on them. It was a dangerous fight with her the drones were smarter and at times able to almost think of their own but Lucrezia fought her way to her.
They battled and tumbled down a chasm as the dark jedi queen shocked her and tore knowledge of the hive from her brain. Something slipped inside. It was subtle at first but Lucrezia could feel her body be hers again as slowly she fought and beat down the dark jedi. With her actions back to being her own she retreated into the tunnels and found an old ship. She could use it to escape the planet and fled hearing the clicking of the Kiltiks.
