- Manufacturer: Freebirds Industries
- Affiliation: Closed-Market
- Model: Luft-1 (Personal version), Luft-2 (Starship version), Luft-3 (Capital ship/Station version)
- Modularity: Can be integrated into any system so long as proper version is utilized
- Production: Minor
- Material: Phrik-A casing, FM-002 insulation, various electrical and sensor components, whatever gases necessary for various environmental cocktails, heating/cooling elements for air/suits
- Has the standard capabilities of any life support system to include monitoring temperature, recycling air, and otherwise insuring that toxins that may be presented into the ship are filtered out to prevent crew harm.
- This is achieved on the personal level by ensuring the system is sealed when activated, with a single intake to allow for the system to monitor all gases being run through it in the case of non-compromised environments, and engaging a micro-bio reactor to filter air through the entirety of the system through a one way valve system. This ensures that air can be recycled constantly and should the wearer become trapped in a compromised environment they could have a limitless air supply.
- In starships, capital ships, and stations, a more conventional method of air recycling is used, with a series of filters, purifiers, and tanks containing very specific set of airborne gases to ensure that whatever species is occupying the vessel at any given time, the ship can accommodate them. This means that with a known species aboard the ship the system can tailor the surrounding air and temperature to their specific needs to ensure that they can operate at peak efficiency.
- In capital ships this system is capable of maintaining multiple atmospheres across the same vessel allowing for crew members from all types of planets to inhabit and live on the same vessels or stations.
- UNLIMITED AIR!: So this life support system is really effective at its designed purpose of delivering the specified and desired doses of whatever gas cocktail each species of life form might require for use in their respective environments. Especially the personal version which means that each individual can have a micro-bio reactor made to ensure they are getting the perfect air mixture pushed to them. This maximizes operator comfort, and as such maximizes their ability to focus on whatever it is they are doing.
- Requires a good seal: So like any life support system out there, this is only as good as its seals, because lets be honest, no amount of filtration or extra work on the system's part can outdo an entire environment's (or lack thereof) gas mixture. So if the seals are broken, this system will continue to work, but it won't be near as effective.
- Can't make two incompatible mixtures at once: So lets say you have two different species of crew that have wildly different atmospheres from their home environments. This system won't magically make both of them able to inhabit the room they are in and magically be able to breath in the same stuff like normal. This gives the ship a choice to make, which is to make a compromising gaseous mixture that both species can tolerate (if such is even possible) or just reset it to a default setting forcing one of the species to wear breath equipment or vac suits. It's not a miracle worker, and it isn't magic.
One of the major pieces of technological equipment necessary for space travel is life support systems, and Freebirds Industries has decided it is time they apply themselves into making their own for their ships. Enter the Luft life support systems a gold standard for any life support system out there. Being able to support a variety of species and even having multiple models to ensure that it is able to be scaled as far up or down as necessary to ensure a proper fit on any level, the Luft is a master piece of technology. This particular life support system takes the standard life support systems on the market, and while it's certainly more effective than your average system runs into a few of the same problems. But of course that is because this system is only one of many in any construction, meaning if you have this installed that's one less thing you have to worry about. And being able to accommodate a variety of species across the galaxy at any given time, this means that with a single system, you can support as many or as few life forms aboard your vessel as you wish.
