- Jack be Nimble: The ship was designed to be more agile than most Star Destroyers its size. Rather than relying on defensive systems the ship is able to dodge most oncoming long range large attacks.
- Jack be Quick: The ship was designed to be slightly faster than most Star Destroyers its size.
- Few in Number: Due to the automation provided by the Aesir System this ship requires a sm aller crew.
- Hit Me with Your Best Shot: While the ship can dodge most heavy attacks, a significant hit may cause a lot of damage.
- Sitting Duck: A successful EMP hit will compromise the Aethir System.
- Shot Through the Heart: Close range attacks by smaller vessels will still cause significant damage as larger ships still cannot match the maneuverability or speed of smaller craft.
Gerwald Lechner was not satisfied with the idea that the best of the Confederacy of Independent Systems’ technology left the galaxy when they fled to the wild reaches of the galaxy. To that end, the Dread Wolf saw fit to collect the best of what he could gather, and present his ideas to John Locke of Locke and Key Mechanics. The two would broker a deal which had the potential to prove costly if Gerwald’s plan did not succeed, but the risk was worth the potential reward by far. Besides, if there was anyone outside of the Sith Order to be trusted with the project, it was the former Exarch himself.
The Lycan class was designed with one primary purpose, to be as agile as the creature it was named for. In the same way Gerwald was more agile than his frame gave away, the Lycan Class Star Destroyer was built to be more agile than the majority of ships its size. This meant sacrificing hangar space and lowering the number of support craft which could be housed on the ship.
Much of the design utilized systems which had been designed for Locke and Key commissions of CIS craft. The allure of the design for modern warfare with the brutality of the Sith Order necessitated a vessel that was equipped to be something no had seen. While the Aeiser System allowed for a smaller crew and significant automation, the design allowed for continuous movement during combat. A ship that could maneuver away from oncoming attacks while remaining on the hunt was a key function of the ship’s construct.
The Lycan Class was designed to be a gift to the Sith Order, used by those loyal to Gerwald Lechner. As per their agreement, Locke and Key Mechanics would also maintain production rights on the ship, and managerial control of the shipyard which Gerwald would build within Sith Space.
