SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Thermal shielding
  • Rad-dampening shielding
  • Heat shielding (physical)
  • All terrain six-wheel drive

STRENGTHS
  • Haul Capacity – Primarily designed for high-production mining operations, the Behemoth can transport vast quantities of raw materials. At full load, it has a capacity of 600 tons of solid material. The dump body can be replaced with liquid or gas containers to suit different transport needs.
  • All-Terrain Capability – Equipped with massive 6x6 wheels, the M-1 can navigate terrain that would be impassable for most vehicles. Its two ion engines generate immense torque, allowing it to traverse mud, sand, and other challenging surfaces, as well as climb steep inclines and overcome obstacles.
  • Advanced Shielding – The Behemoth is built to withstand hazardous conditions on mineral-rich planets. It features redundant heat shielding, combining energy-based thermal shielding and ceramic matrix composites to block extreme heat. Additionally, rad-dampening shields safeguard the crew from radiation exposure on heavily irradiated planets.

WEAKNESSES
  • Slow Speed – The Behemoth was not designed for speed. When unloaded, it reaches a maximum speed of 35 mph, but when fully loaded, this drops to 20 mph. Given the rough terrain where it's typically used, even these speeds are rarely achieved.
  • Inefficiency at Low Loads – The M-1 is only cost-effective when operating at full capacity. If it regularly hauls less than its maximum load, the high running and maintenance costs outweigh the benefits, making it unsuitable for low-volume or low-value mining operations.
  • Size and Weight – The M-1's enormous size requires a large transport ship to deliver it to planetary surfaces. Its massive weight can also cause issues on unstable ground, as the terrain may collapse under the pressure.

DESCRIPTION

The M-1 "Behemoth" is the first product introduced by the Ando Mining Collective as part of their Mining-Series (M-series). Designed for high-capacity hauling in large-scale, long-term mining operations, it fills a specialized niche. The Behemoth is particularly suited for open-pit mines where raw materials are found in solid form. However, thanks to its modular storage containers, it can also transport liquids and gases, offering versatility in resource extraction.

The vehicle's primary role is to transport raw materials from mine sites to refineries, a task it performs with exceptional efficiency. Its six-wheel drive, combined with immense torque, allows the M-1 to conquer some of the most inhospitable terrains in the galaxy. The sheer size and weight of the vehicle, along with its enormous wheels, enable it to crush rocks and flatten vegetation with ease, ensuring reliable performance in rugged environments.

Given the Ando Mining Collective's focus on operations in hostile conditions, the Behemoth is equipped with advanced safety features. Double-redundant radiation and thermal shielding ensure operator protection. Rad-dampening shields safeguard the crew from harmful ionizing radiation, while a lead-lined cockpit provides additional security in case the rad-dampeners fail. For extreme heat environments, thermal energy shields are complemented by a ceramic matrix composite shell that encases the entire vehicle, offering superior physical heat protection.

These safety measures not only protect the crew but also allow the Behemoth to operate at peak efficiency, even on the most dangerous planets.

Very cool sub!
  • The Image source field is broken, I would like to ask you to add the image source link to the template (others usually put it under the art). Thank you for your understanding!
  • However with the new rules, it can't be Mass Production. I would like to ask you to modify the production scale or the ratings:
    6. Extreme ratings require justification and elaboration in the main body of the submission.
    7. Extreme ratings must be submitted as Semi-Unique or Unique.
You can find this in the Factory rules (General Submission Guidelines section)
