SPECIAL FEATURES
- Complete analog construction and operation of the weapon, alongside the grade of materials and metals in the weapon's build allows for extreme reliability. This also lends itself to having the ability to retain its zero and accuracy despite taking hits, being smacked around, or otherwise being abused. This makes it perfect for being used as long term weapon for operators in harsh, austere or otherwise demanding environments that lend to weapons being used in them being very abused.
- Weapon is also constructed using extremely precise milling, laser cutting, and other technologies to ensure that parts have a nearly seamless fit and lend itself to being extremely accurate. This combined with the build quality, strength of the materials used, and the level of tolerances used in the build mean that this weapon not only cycles accurately, but precisely. That means each shot has very little play outside of what the weapon's action is designed to do, making the weapon itself a good choice for marksmen who need reliable accuracy.
- Weapon utilizes a semi-automatic action with a box fed detachable magazine. While it can be set to fire as a bolt action with a small modification to the gas system, this action allows for snipers to make slow steady fire against targets at medium and long ranges. The detachable magazine also allows for snipers to carry spare magazines for ammunition, however also has a feature that the magazine can be reloaded while attached to the weapon. This is achieved by simply placing a stripper clip into the open bolt of the weapon, and pressing the rounds into the magazine.
STRENGTHS
- Firepower - So this thing fires a 14mm x 110mm round on a sniper rifle platform. You better be hiding behind some really reinforced armored walls. Like, extremely reinforced walls. It's called an Anti-Material rifle for a reason.
- Accuracy and Range - This weapon is a semi-automatic sniper rifle platform that's built to use the energy generated by its round and create the most stable and accurate flight path possible. This weapon can put rounds touching each other, if not through the same hole, at kilometres of range with a properly trained marksman.
WEAKNESSES
- This weapon is not small or light - This weapon has to be able to handle the 14mm x 110mm round as a dismounted infantry weapon system. That means there is a lot of weight put into the weapon system and a lot of reinforced parts to try and either absorb, or dissipate as much energy as possible to make it even possible for a shooter to be able hit targets at range with this thing.
- Training is a must - So these rounds are ballistic which means that they have a flight path and trajectory. Your average shooter who's shot blasters or lasers or other things their entire life won't be able to use this past 1000 meters, if even that. You need to learn how the round flies, and how the atmosphere affects the round's flight path.
- This is a long range weapon - So note the fact that this weapon is bigger, heavier, and has a higher amount of recoil than your average weapon system that's meant for average or even close range combat. And then note the fact that this thing's primary optic is also only meant for long range engagements. You're not going to use this in CQC or even shootouts closer than hand grenade range, due to the fact that to so requires you to be able to range, and zero your weapon to those really close ranges really quickly, which defeats the purpose of the weapon. And with the low ammo count per magazine, good luck trying to just Tattooine windage and Correlian Elevation this unless you've shot thousands of rounds through it already.
DESCRIPTION
One of the many developments to come out of TDW's weapons program designed to create weapons for company use in any combat zone or environment. And so came the Anti-Material Rifle that utilizes the 14mm x 110mm round. With the purpose of reaching out and touching targets kilometers away, as well as punch through armor, walls, light vehicles, and foliage. Incapable of punching through the heaviest, reinforced vehicle armors; even then, some poor sod on the other side of that armor will question his life choices and likely decide that they're not getting out. The complete analog construction means that this weapon is impervious to EMP/Ion weapons, and it's construction makes it extremely durable. This weapon is designed to work anywhere, anytime, and without a lot of specialist equipment. That being said, this thing isn't small or light. It's shooting a 14mm x 110mm round, which as you may think, generates a lot of energy. Like magnitudes of energy higher than your average rifle. The recoil system in this thing was specially designed to mitigate as much recoil as possible with the weight of the weapon taking up the rest. And even then, for beginner shooters it's recommended that you shoot from bipod only. And this weapon requires that the user is trained to fully utilize the weapon. These rounds have ballistic trajectories, which means that not only do the bullets drop, they are affected by wind, air pressure, humidity, even changes in temperature at further ranges. A shooter with this weapon system needs to know how to account for these, and how it will affect the bullet's flight path. But in the hands of a trained shooter, for a ranged precision support weapon you will find nothing better.
