SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Vehicular mounted weapon system designed to engage munitions, small craft, or even lightly armored vehicles. While the weapon system itself is stabilized and extremely accurate it increases its accuracy against targets at range by applying the "Accuracy through Volume of Fire" method. This is where in it doesn't matter if each shot hits the intended target at range. It matters that this weapon puts out so many rounds that at least by law of averages that several will hit. Eventually.
  • Capable of swapping between utilizing cased telescopic ammunition (chambered in 23 mm x 120 mm) or utilizing a heavy laser cannon reservoir for more ammunition. This weapon uses the cased ammunition to engage targets at longer ranges, while using laser cannon to engage targets up close. This however requires swapping of key components to facilitate each mode of fire. This includes barrels, action, and firing mechanisms and takes up to 20 minutes each swap.
  • Weapon can maintain large volumes of continuous fires due to rotating barrels allowing for each barrel to fire a few shots before swapping with another and allowing the barrel to cool. This is also increased due to the spinning nature of the barrel allowing for increased airflow over each barrel in turn, increasing cooling capacity by a small margin.
  • Ammunition supply for cased ammunition can be made as large or small as necessary allowing for better use as an offensive or defensive weapon system. This however must be counter-balanced with the weight of the ammunition, meaning too much would make the weapon a static weapon emplacement, while using a smaller ammunition load means less trigger time or decreased rates of fire to maintain trigger time.
  • Laser Cannon version of the weapon system offers near limitless ammunition reservoir for the weapon system, however is limited by the inherent issues with laser cannon weapons. Meaning that they are intended as close range engagement weapons. However when utilized by a more mobile vehicle or walker, perhaps the lack of reliance on munition stores would be preferable as it's one less thing to worry about.
  • Defeats most armor systems or static defenses using the armor degradation method. This means that while the first, second, or even hundredth shot might not pierce enemy armor it will degrade over time to eventually burn/punch through. This allows the weapon to utilize its extraordinary rate of fire to defeat light vehicle armor as well as massed formations of enemy combatants.
STRENGTHS
  • Rotary Cannon goes "BRRRRRRRRRRRRRT": This weapon system shoots really, really, really fast. So fast that even when using kinetic rounds, and having a single tracer round every 6-10 bullets you'll see what appears to be a solid line appear from the weapon as it shoots at something. And break out the sunglasses cause those tracers are bright! The only reason the laser cannon version is more visible in being able to pick out each shot is that laser cannon blasts are slower, and so are easier to track with the eye. So long story short, this shoots a lot really fast.
  • Adaptable to your fancy: So this weapon system can use more standardized and widely available heavy laser cannon technology to fire laser cannon blasts at extreme rates of fire. Or you can be real fancy and show people how absolutely terrifying ballistics are when they think they're sitting pretty outside normal engagement ranges, when their shields start flaring up and warnings blare as you start pelting them with auto cannon fire.
WEAKNESSES
  • No EMP/Ion protection: This weapon system comes with little to no EMP/Ion based protections. And since the primary components require an electrical motor to turn the barrels to maintain rates of fires that's a pretty big weakness for the weapons. So if the weapon can't turn the barrels no stupid rates of fire unless you want to melt the barrels.
  • The parts are the cheap part: This thing fires a massive amount of rounds through it at extremely fast rates. So unless you are running the laser cannon version which utilizes as reservoir to give it a nearly unlimited ammunition capacity, you're gonna need a lot of bullets. And while a bullet is pretty cheap, a dump truck full of them is not.
DESCRIPTION
This weapon system is another in the ever expanding Freebirds Industry catalog of weapons specifically meant to be produced in the CIS and exported to anywhere in the galaxy. This weapon system is a excellent choice for vehicles or static emplacements with the express purpose of engaging enemy munitions, small craft, light vehicles or infantry formations with massive volumes of fire. The weapon's ability to utilize both either laser cannon technologies which are widespread throughout the galaxy or ballistic technologies pioneered by Freebirds Industries are also a boon to buyers everywhere. This is because that if a prospective buyer wishes to make a one time purchase and that's that they certainly can, or they can continue to provide FI their patronage by utilizing their cased telescopic ammunition. This allows the weapon system to adapt to a variety of environments, mission profiles, or other preferences anyone might have for a weapon such as this. The only thing that is for sure that while you can certainly add onto this, incorporate it into existing systems or even just mount on up on a turret, you'll be hard pressed to find a weapon with more shots per minute than this. Which sounds like a whole lot of fun don't you think?
