SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Either man portable or mounted weapon system capable of putting out high volumes of fire that are intended to engage dismounted infantry. This weapon is best utilized at engaging mass formations, using high rates of fire to engage targets.
  • Capable of swapping between utilizing cased telescopic ammunition (chambered in 6.8 x 43 mm) or utilizing blaster packs for more ammunition. This weapon uses the cased ammunition to engage targets at longer ranges, while using blaster based munitions to engage targets up close. This however requires swapping of key components to facilitate each mode of fire. This includes barrels, action, and firing mechanisms and takes up to five minutes each swap.
  • Weapon can maintain large volumes of continuous fires due to rotating barrels allowing for each barrel to fire a few shots before swapping with another and allowing the barrel to cool. This is also increased due to the spinning nature of the barrel allowing for increased airflow over each barrel in turn, increasing cooling capacity by a small margin.
  • Ammunition supply for cased ammunition can be made as large or small as necessary allowing for better use as an offensive or defensive weapon system. This however must be counter-balanced with the weight of the ammunition, meaning too much would make the weapon a static weapon emplacement, while using a smaller ammunition load means less trigger time or decreased rates of fire to maintain trigger time.
  • Blaster supplies however only come in two varieties, back pack mounted blaster pack or a heavy static generator. Generator offers near limitless ammunition supply however are much more difficult to move and next to impossible to attempt to use while being mobile unless on the back of a speeder. Back pack version is significantly lighter, however needing to be swapped out after two minutes of firing to recharge or be replaced.
  • Defeats most armor systems or static defenses using the armor degradation method. This means that while the first, second, or even hundredth shot might not pierce enemy armor it will degrade over time to eventually burn/punch through. This allows the weapon to utilize its extraordinary rate of fire to defeat armor as well as massed formations of enemy combatants.
STRENGTHS
  • Minigun go "BRRRT": This weapon has a rate of fire that makes it firing sound like a buzz saw. To put it simply, there is no way for any type of organic or even droid to try and track every single round in flight for longer than a 3 second burst. The rounds simply fly too fast, are too numerous, and would be akin to someone trying to count all the grains of sand on a beach.
  • Can use either blasters or slug thrower munitions: This weapon system can be configured to use either blaster technology or slug thrower technology. This allows for operators to choose between the advantages of either type of ammunition.
WEAKNESSES
  • It costs 4,000 credits to fire this thing for a minute: Someone has to pay for the bullets or blaster packs that you're running, which is usually not that expensive. That being said the sheer amount of bullets or blaster packs this thing can chew through is huge which is what makes this weapon more expensive.
  • Ion/EMP: This weapon in its base configuration does not have any EMP/Ion shielding which some would probably find helpful in operations on more hostile environments. And since the base weapon itself is actually electric to turn the various barrels and run the motors which feed ammunition, means this weapon has a quite potent counter. Simply use an Ion weapon.
DESCRIPTION
The squad support weapon system is something that many companies alongside Freebirds Industries offer a myriad of options for all kinds of people. Even Freebirds Industries has options that while are more commonly found within CIS space are acquirable by those outside of the CIS with proper certifications, background checks and or other means by which to purchase the weapons. This however is meant to be a markedly different entry from that weapon. This weapon system is meant for mass production and utilization throughout the galaxy, made in large enough quantities and cheaply enough that any mercenary, soldier, or even small militia could afford these weapons. This means its parts are also in large cheap supplies allowing for massive fielding, modifications, and generally allowing for off brand reproductions of various repair parts. The other change is that while the higher end offer from FI focuses on a mixture of high kinetic energy per round with rates of fire, this weapon throws the book out on that mentality.

Because what if a weapon shot so fast that you couldn't hear individual shots anymore, at all?

This weapon would provide that answer with a weapon system that's capable of engaging masses of infantry of all types, using its rates of fire to mow down unarmored infantry, overwhelm them space wizards, and otherwise give you a power trip that you'll never forget. With blaster backpacks you can fire this thing for what seems like a lifetime and grin as the rounds simply don't stop coming. With bullets you get to watch what appears to be a solid line of light and fire erupt from the weapon in a dazzling light display that makes most blaster rifles just throw in the towel. And lets be honest, for man portable armor, it doesn't matter if it's the fourth, the twentieth, the hundredth round that finally punches through the armor because it will fail. And this weapon gives you at a minimum of 100 tries to beat it every second.

Enjoy.

We got a problem.

DESCRIPTION
(Describe some of the histories behind the submission. Give us some idea of how it might perform its function, what it excels against and what some limitations of it are. This is where you talk about your idea, flesh it out over at least a good-sized paragraph, and address some of the ways it might be used or abused. For especially powerful or ambitious submissions, a very thorough description is recommended.)
This needs to be filled in.

Let me know when you do the required change.

So. First I'm so sorry for this lingering for so long without judging but I'll get to the judging.

First thing that stands out is you're using the old template as the 'Reload Speed' stat is no longer in use. You'll probably have to re-jigger the stats a little.

Noah Corek Noah Corek No problem! You guys get busy and I understand that y'all are people too.

As far as the old template however I have pulled that stat from older templates and incorporated into my new template. As you'll notice that Penetration is not a part of the standard template either. I have done this to provide a more detailed submission, such as with the adding of the specific defenses to armor and material subs.

Alright, so after consulting with fellow factory staff I've finally found the answers. While I like your idea of adding armor penetration it still deviates from the stat sheet, for which we have made for the purpose of balancing and throwing in another metric just messes up that balance.
