OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: Create a universal comms system
  • Canon Link: Comm unit
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: N/A

PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Maji Ironworks
  • Affiliation: Maji Ironworks
  • Market Status: Open-Market
  • Model: M.I. Rotating Communications System
  • Modularity: Highly Modular
  • Production: Mass-Produced
  • Material: Impervium, Duranium, Durasteel, plastoid, various other materials and electrical components.

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Constantly rotating frequencies make it harder to isolate, jam, and intercept.
  • Point-to-point encryption with the capability of securing other types of comms systems.
  • Various redundancies such as comm laser capability and a dadita translator.
  • IFF transponder and spoofer.
  • Rotating holonet connection with info transfer priority.
  • Simplistic user interface and modularity in settings.
  • Databank with enclosed frequencies integrated into point-to-point encryption
  • Frequency and input search with signal cleaner or jammer.
  • Automated frequency killswitch to prevent slicing if a frequency is compromised.

STRENGTHS
  • Scale: The RCS can be used in a variety of areas, from small handheld comms all the way up to enormous comms suites on planets and capital ships.
  • Secure: With various redundancies and encryption methods, the comms system is very secure and hard to jam.
  • Backup: The system has various extras to aid in communications in the event the system is blocked.
  • Connection: The RCS can either interface seamlessly with other types of comms systems if a frequency is established, or it can disrupt signals if it manages to isolate it. It also has a built-in IFF transponder and spoofer, as well as an emergency beacon ping.

WEAKNESSES
  • Dependent: The capability of the software itself is reliant on the hardware of the user.
  • Hardpoint: If a user is able to plug into a physical connection point, they could potentially have an easier time to get into the system.
  • Slow: With the cycling frequencies, a fast connection could potentially be hampered.
  • Range: The range of the comms is heavily reliant on the physical machine hosting it.

DESCRIPTION
Conventional technology pushed to work miracles, the RCS is a custom software and hardware combination designed to provide secure communications to anyone and anything, whether it be a tiny handheld comms device, a powerful planetary system in a speeder, or a galactic-level terminal on a starship or planetary defense force.

Its basic design allows it to interface with just about any other comms system in the galaxy, working more as a blank slate capable of adapting, though it can easily be configured and set up with other devices using the same software to create an enclosed and encrypted database allowing for quick and secure communication.
